When will people learn to accept their differences?

by Allison Steinman

Created on: April 15, 2008

In the world I live in it's okay to hate. It's okay to discriminate without reaseon, judge without empathy and to destroy someone weaker without mercy. In the world I live it's okay to lie until I feel better, cheat until I'm caught and steal from those who need things more.
In the world I live it's okay to procecute the innocent, starve the hungry and hurt the helpless.

fathers are villains, brothers are theives and God is a curse word
Profanity is communication, disability is difference, and selfishness is a personality trait.
In the world I live in It's good to be rich and bad to be generous, it's much easier to betray than it is to build trust.
In the world I live a homosexual is reprimanded, a black man is segregated and a woman is made to feel inferior.
In the world I live in violence is on TV like it's entertainment, peace is a word I sing about only at Christmas and war is how civilized people solve a difference of opinion.
In the world I live in daughters break the hearts of mothers, husbands make their wives cry and good friends twist the knife.
In the world I live in disease steals good people, no one really has all the answers, time is wasted and sometimes love isn't enough.
In the world I live nobody truly lives because everybody is somebody else. It's too scary to just be myself and nobody's who you thought.
In the world I live money dictates power, status dictates strength and everyone is wanting more.
in the world I live in failure is a reason to give up, suicide is an option and murder is a tragedy that didn't have to happen.
Drugs are an escape plan and fear is a reason to stay.
People get labeled, makeup covers bruises and names will always hurt me.
In the world I live in nothing will be fair or easy or simple,
because in the world I live in it's more important to be right.
In the world I live in thin is sexy, self esteeem is low and eating disorders are rampant.
In the world I live in guns are toys, people are pawns and words are weapons. It will be far too late by the time we realize we only have one life, one chance and we don't get to redo any of it..
