Country Music Television is entertaining to watch when I happen to see the videos being played. I hardly ever find the time to see videos anymore so when I do I am glad I did. Country music has some of the best videos out there since the majority of the songs are related to real-life situations. The videos are like watching a short film with music added to it.
One of the most enjoyable videos I have seen which was back in the early 90's was "Achy Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus. This video was basically a performance by Cyrus on stage in front of crowd singing the song. It was very simple but I enjoyed watching it every time I had a chance. The song was a cross-over hit reaching as high as number 4 on the Billboard Top 100 and of course it hit number on the country charts.
"Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood is one of those songs that I have to listen to every time it is played on the radio. I love the lyrics and the melody. It is the anthem to every girl that has ever been cheated on. This video takes you through the story that Underwood sings about and it is pleasantly visually effective. "Before He Cheats" made Underwood a household name for those that don't listen to country. It has captured the ears of many women and the video captured the eyes of both men and women.
"Not Ready To Make Nice" by the Dixie Chicks is their comeback hit after they were casted out for making a bad comment about President Bush. This video was simple and continued to focus on the faces of Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire, and Emily Robison. They actually had recieved death threats from what they had said in a concert in England. "Not Ready to Make Nice" is autobiographical of the heartache they suffered during their time away from the music industry. Making this song was therapeutic for them and the video was emotional and from the heart.
There are more videos that are unforgettable as well including Garth Brooks "Friends in Low Places" and "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight" by Hank Williams Jr., but the top three capture a time and essence that are relatable as well as memorable.
