Sung in your sleep
one last time,
childhood songs
from long ago.
You were helpless,
just as helpless,
as your gaunt, curling form is today.
And you said,
"Mom, I want to go home
but I don't want to let you all
down. Still, I'm tired,
tired of fighting.
Giving up seems
the wrong thing to do."
Sang in your sleep
one last time
songs of laughter and comfort and joy.
Little boy lullabies
sent you on your way
to the dream that will never
return.
Your destination
so secure
never doubt, never fear
only sighs
for those you left behind
for the pain that your passage contained;
for beloved hearts, yet to get their wings,
weighed down
by the concrete of earth.

no worries or fears
plays in the meadow
smelling the wildflowers
feeling the dew on her toes

Hard Words
Cold and hard some people's words sound
they think it will get me up from the ground
but hard words can not hurt
