Quick, name you're favorite country music video! It's probably pretty difficult isn't it? There are more and more videos everyday and your choices are endless. But maybe there is that one video that impressed you so much, you will never forget it. So what are the qualities of an unforgettable country music video.
When you say the word unforgettable, it doesn't necessarily have to do with the quality or production or even how modern it is. While it is true that video production has improved over the last decade, the message behind the video is often enough to make it unforgettable.
The most unforgettable videos are those which you can relate to, the ones that tug at your heart or make you remember a special time in your life. They are unforgettable to us because they provide us a basis for special memories.
Here are a few examples of memorable videos:
"Go Rest High On That Mountain" by Vince Gill
It wasn't a flashy video or a big production. Just three people standing on the stage singing while a panorama of mountain scenes was shown on the screens behind them. The song spoke of the battle of life being drawn to a close for a loved one and finally taking their rest high in a peaceful and serene setting. It is what we would all like to see happen to those we love who have passed away.
"The Dance" by Garth Brooks
The main theme of the song says it all. Life is filled with struggle and trials, but it is better to experience life flaws and all than to have never lived. As Garth Brooks once said," I could have missed the pain, but I would have had to miss the dance, and I wouldn't have missed this for the world." With this strong message being played, the video served to enhance the feeling by showing vivid images of popular people who had left their mark on society and had passed away. People like John Wayne, Martin Luther King Jr., John Kennedy and Johnny Cash.
There is no way to list all the unforgettable country music videos, partly because of the sheer number of them and partly because it is subjective. Not every video is going to be unforgettable to the same people. They all have different meanings for each person, but what they have in common is that an unforgettable video will bring out that special feeling in people.
