Choosing a political party

by Gene De Lalla

Created on: April 15, 2008

When John Kerry was running for the Democratic nomination for his party's shot at the White House, a group of Vietnam veterans put together an organization called "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth." In short, these Vietnam vets - many of whom had served with Kerry - wanted the public to know the real story about the thrice-awarded Purple Heart recipient.

At first, I found it very difficult to believe all the accusations regarding Kerry's service. In fact, I even supported the "official" reports about the good Senator's war record. However, the truth shall set you (and me) free!

(Update: It seems as though Senator Kerry has not learned his lesson as he once again touts his "two-tour" Vietnam service as he recently claimed in the willing media. I don't know how he is figuring "two tours" of duty in Vietnam, but what I do know is that my ONE tour lasted a full year, not a couple of months - or less - here and there.)

The Swift Boat vets made a sound case against their former swift boat commander. In addition to the revealed facts, - information that is in the public domain - Kerry was, and still is, a Liberal Democrat, as well as claiming to be a practicing Catholic. Those two positions are as opposed to each other as fire is to water. One cannot be a Liberal Democrat, and, at the same time, claim to be a practicing Catholic; that is a spiritual impossibility. As proof of this, the truth reared its "ugly" head once again, and the public was treated to abominable displays of the culture of death and outright rejection of his Church's teachings on abortion, divorce, contraception and homosexuality.

So, whatever honorable (or dishonorable?) military service Kerry had to offer the voting public (that included many Catholics), it was counterbalanced by his pro-abortion and other damnable stands and anti-life voting record.

Whether the Swift Boat vets made any real difference in the outcome of the voting, I don't really know, but that is ancient history.

Let's fast forward to the present day run for the White House, with Obama and Clinton on the Democratic side, and John McCain on the Republican side.

It's has become very apparent to me that the choices offered the American voters this time around are just as abysmal or worse then the last time around, a la George Bush, the junior, and Gore.

As for the Democrats, Obama and Clinton are the most radical of the pro-abortion, pro-homosexual politicians ever to battle for their party's nomination for president. Any right-thinking
