Presidential Elections 2008

US elections 2008: Whose win would be more historically important: Obama or Clinton?

Results so far:

Obama
62% 204 votes Total: 329 votes
Clinton
38% 125 votes

I do not favor a woman for a leader. But I would say that Clinton's win in the 2008 Presidential elections in the US would be more historically important.

I am a believer that women should never become leaders of state. As it was mentioned in the Bible, only men were given priesthood by God, meaning to say only men have the right to lead. Never that God gave a woman the right to do so. I do not want to sound like I am gender bias but that is what the Bible said.

There are only two possible scenario that will make it more historically important if Clinton's win the presidential election. First, it will mark a new era of leadership, US for the first time is to be led by a woman president. Second, it may mark the downfall of the powerful US.

Take a look at the countries that had elected a woman as their president like the Philippines, Pakistan and many others. Their economy suffered a lot. No country that had been led by a woman leader ever become great. Great Britain when ran by Thatcher was already great. Can you imagine an agricultural country like the Philippines is suffering from rice crisis? It is very humiliating. Blame it on the president. Way back in the 80's, the Philippines government was headed by the first woman president of the country. It was very historically important indeed, because she was the first woman president. But what was the result? That administration suffered dozens of coup d' e tat. Protests were very frequent. The country suffered the worst energy crisis in its History and to top it all, the country's economy fell to its lowest performance. Pakistan is also experiencing the same, its economy is down and there's social unrest.

I'm not emphasizing that Clinton doesn't have the traits of a leader but I do believe that the moment she sets foot in the White House, her male detractors, critics and political opponents as well, will never stopped pulling her down until she's out of power. Why? Because generally speaking, men are egoistic and they can't possibly think of a scenario or accept the fact that they are being ruled by a woman. Just like what happened to Cory Aquino, her administration was marred by so many coup attempts. Take the lesson from India's Indira Gandhi, she was brutally assassinated. Same fate happened to the former leader of Pakistan because of the possibility of returning to power. As history speaks, seldom women leader where accepted by majority. If these things happen, the once greatest and mightiest country in the world will slowly slide down.

On the other hand, if her political opponents and detractors will become cooperative in all her endeavors for the economic progress of the United States, especially now that the nation is suffering from recession,(and she will surely inherit this economic problem if something could not be done by the present administration, I just hope that her opponents will not take advantage in using this issue to pull her down once she's already in power) the nation will certainly remain as the world's most powerful nation on earth.
It will also be very interesting to note that if she wins, she will be the "first woman President of the United States," the Mother and Protector of democracy. When that time comes, it can be said that finally there really exist a country with total and absolute democracy knowing that this country is the mother of democracy and the most powerful nation on earth to date.

If Clinton wins, it will either make or break the United States of America. Remember that no great empire or kingdom that had fallen become great again.
