How to wrap a Christmas present

Wrapping the perfect present

When it comes to wrapping presents everyone has their own different ways.  Some simply pull the pieces of paper together and use copious amounts of cellotape to keep everything in place, while others strive for perfection so that presents look like they have jumped straight out of a TV commercial.

Then there is the decorations! Do you add a tag and simple bow or do you loop streams of ribbon to create something that could be considered a work of art? However you wrap and present your Christmas gifts, there are methods to make it much easier.

Instructions
Step 1
Lie the paper flat

Put the paper face-down so that the pattern is lying on the table.  Place the gift-boxed present in the center of the paper, also face-down.  The paper should be brought up over the sides of the present and should be able to overlap.  Use a small piece of cellotape to hold the paper in place.

Step 2
Fold the sides

Fold the end pieces of paper into the center of the end of the box so that there are two small triangles of paper at the top and at the bottom.  Crease along the diagonal edges of the two flaps.

Step 3
Fold the flaps

Fold the upper and lower flaps towards each other at the end of the box and use another small piece of cellotape to hold in place.  Repeat this process on the other side.

Step 4
Wrap with ribbon

With the present the right way up, use a long length of ribbon and lie it across.  Turn the box and the ribbon over so that the box is upside down and twist the ribbon so that it now runs the width of the box.  Flip the box again and loop the ribbon under itself.

Step 5
Tie a bow

With the ends of the ribbon around the sides of the box and looped under itself, finish by tying it into a large bow in the center and cut any loose lengths.  You can also finish the present with a tag, cellotaped underneath the ribbon!
