Hi everyone I am deaf. I wasn't born this way it has been a progressive loss due to scarlet fever, loud noise and some genetic factors. I have a son with Down syndrome wearing two hearing aids,a grand daugher with multiple disabilites( some that have yet to be diagnosed.) I also have another son that has severe hearing loss in his right ear. So as you can see I have quite a boatload of experience with disabilities. I hope any or all of you will join me to discuss what it means to live with disabilities. So let down your hair pull up a chair and stay awhile. I have no reservations for what ever it will be.

Hi everyone hope your not being shy!
Please join me and millions of other families with Special Olympians to end the r-word.
The slang use of the word retard, or retarded maginalizes and offends people with intellectual disabilities, their families and their friends. Take a stand to end the r-word in your schools, homes and communitites and especially in your written words.
Thanks Brians mom

i just wrote a letter to a popular satire magazine about their use of autism in sarcastic article seems to me a line is crossed when you use disability in satire. Its not funny its just a mean cold slap in the face to the families.
