I have let this go thinking it would eventually be corrected.

Now I have accumulated months of  "group forum displays,"   that I am unable to delete .

Appreciate if someone would go into my group areas  .and make a repair please LOL

When I try to open a new zone, it says I have reached my limit of zones (one). Management told me to ask for help here; I'm asking?

I don't know what twisting path led me here.  I was just "Googling" around. cyber-space

Whatever the trail, I'm glad I stumbled into your writer's nest.

Is there an open issue with rating? I haven't been able to rate for days. I only get one article on the left side of the screen. Yes, I dumped cache and cookies.

Hi. I'm rather new to Helium and I am trying to join the groups "Marketplace Premier Writer" and "Marketplace Approved Writer". When I search for them in the groups section it says Helium can't find them. Help please. Thank you.

Also how soon can you post an article in a group once you join?

How do  you make money on here?   I have been writing my fingers off ha ha...and I watch the pennies adding up but no dollars?

At this rate if I knock out three articles a day by next year at this time I will have $6.00.     Just curious??????   Can you only get paid if Market place choses your articles?   I love the write now feature and I write now but havent seen a dollar.

Just curious?  PS on the rating stars....I lose stars after  I spend the previous day rateing articles...I must of rated God knows how many yesterday thinking I would gain a star only to have one taken away.  How discouraging is that?

Rex,

This is in support of my How to make turtle soup instruction. I have pictures of the giant turtles from the Galapagos, if I can figure out how to upload them. I was thinking of the mock turtle drawing from Alice in Wonderland.

Is there a way we can make these posts searchable?  It's become like finding a needle in the proverbial haystack since the change.

Incidentally, I am looking for Sarah's diagram for How To layout, which would be great if it were a downloadable .pdf, BTW.

Hi,

I have no idea if I am in the right place or not; I have been with Helium for almost three years, due to my health I have stopped or been fired I guess from being a steward, fact checker etc. which is best. I am currently in a nursing home after my third stroke in four years.

Anyway, I am so computer illiterate, I have no idea how to post my articles in the proper places or I should say give them the proper key words so they gain attention. I should have made double of what I have made and I know if my articles were placed in a more strategic way I would have made much more money. I do not write as often as I would like because I am within six classes  of receiving my BS in Psychology, which I am proud of since I will be 51 and as soon as i finish I am going for my MBA which I will teach Adults on-line since I am disabled.

Sorry, my point is I need help placing my articles, and giving them proper key words to help me earn....can you help me in this area?

Thank you,

Mary Tyrer

If the title already exists, the keywords are already in place. If you are referring to those contained in your article, that isn't really hard. Just think of the key terms people might use in order to find your article, and slip them in 3-5 times in the article. The search engine's web crawler does the rest. :)

Does this help at all?

When I open one of my how-to's with a slide-show; the slideshow seems to start playing through to the end automatically as the page opens.

By the time a reader has been through the 'steps', the slideshow that contains images related to the steps will have finished.

I try to replay, but it says .. Done, with errors.  I don't seem to be able to re-start the slide-show at all.

Is this just a Beta-glitch that everyone experiences, or is there a way that the slideshow can be replayed more than once with a single viewing of the guide's page??

This is the guide in question here

I have installed the title of a new article. Now how do I install the article? Edit keeps leading me to Install Title.

Kerry, you will have fewer problems if you just use the wizard. It will ask for the intro block, then the steps, then the Things Needed block, then the Tips and warnings block, and so forth. Using the wizard is the first step to creating a great guide, easily, the first time.

Just remember that the Intro is different than the steps, and so on. These are all designed to make it easier by cutting it into smaller portions. It really isn't hard to do. Just give it a try, and don't try to overpack one block with too much informations.

Add A Block comes into play if you want to add addtional facts, links, or whatver.

To ge an idea, please look at my guides. Yes, I derive income (potentially) if you do, but the purpose is so you can get an idea of what is expected. Once you get this part down, and use the wizard, you probably will have few problems.

The Wizard just tosses me into a yes/no situation involving HTML or Helium blocs. I can't get back to my article therefrom. I have written what I want to abstract. The titlle is sitting there. Now what?

The forums appear to be disabled, so I joined this group instead. Is this group going to replace the forums or does it exist in addition to the forums?

The system upgrade made me unable to do things on Helium for several hours. In the past hour, however, I've been able to write one new article and do some rating. The rating still shows glitches. Various Helium pages are still slow to load. How long will the system upgrade go on and when are things expected to get back to normal? Also, will there be an announcement about the system upgrade any time soon?

On the plus side, my September bonuses have been posted in the adjustments listing under Payments & Earnings, and they are in the amount they should be. It was interesting to see them reflected as September earnings even though I actually did the work in August.

Regards,

Michael

The boards are working, but after the upgrade, the site is moving slow, so you might have time out issues. You might want to clear your cache and Helium cooking, and log in again though.

The site will be going normally again as soon as possible. There isn't a way to estimate how long that will be, but Ops is working on it. Apologies for any inconveniences.

Rex, when I try to access the boards, I get an administrator login page and a notice saying an older backup database is being restored.

More significantly, the title finder is not working at all and article rating is very flaky. I have also earned exactly one cent of adshare in the last 12 hours, so it seems that's also being affected.

Can you give me a ballpark on how long the website will be flaky--an hour, a day, a week, a month, a year?

Regards,

Michael

The boards are up, but they are in diagnostic mode. Everything will get better, and Helium is scrambling to fix everything right now. The site will remain slow, though, until all images are reindexed.

All of this might be helpful, though, when the really big update happens in the next few weeks. :)

Rex, I suspended my publishing efforts on Suite101 because of their endless technical problems related to a major system upgrade. Are you telling me I'm going to have to do the same thing on Helium?

I still need to do whether the system instability is a matter of a few more hours or a few more weeks.

Regards,

Michael

I'm suspecting that it will be on the order of hours. It usually is. A lot of it has to do with indexing, and that is lengthy, but not tremendously so. Once the indexing gets done, the rest goes pretty quickly.

After the last upgrade, there were almost no issues. In fact, after the last major upgrade, there were only a few, and they were handled quickly. Helium wants to get it right, as soon as possible.

Rex Trulove Posts: 1401

I should add that it is in Helium's best interest to get things working quickly, and they try very hard to do this. Income is still coming in to the writers, but the amount is down due to latency issues. If you aren't making money, Helium isn't either.

I don't joke when I say that there are Helium staffers who are scrambling to get it all working correctly. They can fix problems, but they can't speed up the indexing.

Thanks for the reassurance. As it's nearly 5 pm here, I might take a break until tomorrow, and hopefully by then the site will be working well again.

Regards,

Michael

Something you don't see on most other sites...I've known of Helium staffers who have worked almost around the clock to fix issues. Saying that they are devoted would be an understatement.

The astonishing thing is that they (Helium) want every single member to have a stellar experience here, and work at that goal. That part isn't motivated self interest, it is the way Helium is. We are a community, and everyone tries to help everyone else. The people who leave here, do so primarily because they don't like the community concept and would prefer to remain reclusive.

Rex, I see something new in my payments today. It was listed as editorial solutions and the payment was for $10.00. I also recieved a payment from NARS so I know it isn't the editing. Can you tell me what this payment is? I probably missed something somewhere but I always know I can count on you for pretty much any information on Helium haha Thank you, Dawn

How much do articles Pay-Per-Click (PPC)? Are we allowed to generate traffic using paid affiliate services related to the pages/zones?

Beau Glover Posts: 7

Videos posted have two settings. Auto-Play 'Yes,' or Auto-Play 'No.'

The video can be edited by an administrator to play upon click and not upon load however, videos aren't in theory supposed to coincide with the rate at which readers read.

Think of it as if that were ad space. The ad can be ignored, or interacted with, but ultimately it's about clicks.

I believe that it is $1 per 1000 unique views (to prevent padding).

Yes, absolutely you can't promote. In fact, it is recommended that you promote you guides on Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon, etc. There have even been blogs on the Helium blog regarding this. Some builders have receieve thousands of views by doing this. If I'm not mistaken, the top earner for a month rec'd just under 20,000 views by promoting. That is in one month! Imagine if you have a hundred guides, each getting that many views each month!

I should also mention that it will get better, too, when we have our own landing page and come under the Helium page rank "umbrella". That is slated to happen sooner rather than later.

Hi!

I have finally decided the way I am going to take my Zone, and it is simply go into be about my writing. I love Tigger, he will always be there, I have family, and four classes from having my BS in Psychology; my Zone is long, and I will be just change my articles....I titled my page Stop by and meet me so everything I enjoy will be on my page. It is long, has a slide show of my family and friends and I am happy with the way it has come out.

Is there anything wrong with having a zone that simply shows my personality? I am happy with the way it has turned out. I have changed articles on it three times, some are staples that I leave there all the time. All it really is, is a website that is About Me, and I like that better than anything else I have tried in the last three years. I hope people stop by.
