Hi everyone, my name is Vicki, I live and work in rural Australia as a freelance writer and love my work! I study Christianity, world religions, metaphysics and quantum science. Happily married 34 years, a mother of 5 children, 2 girls,3 boys, 5 grandchildren and loving life. I have recently had my faith tested to the max with an ordeal brought on by a person that caused me a great deal of grief and trauma. I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder  9 months ago, but thank God, through my faith and love of God I have come through this with flying colours and amazing doctors, therapists and counsellors for my record speed recovery without drugs in being healed. My unique blend of therapy was the Bible, my faith in God and a genuine caring Christian Counsellor who opened my eyes to the world that I had been sheltered from since I was 15 when my mother passed away. Into my life shortly after came my best friend, my husband, father of my children and constant companion of whom thank God for the gift of such a wonderful person in my life I have spent the last 34 years with!

I have been writing on Helium for some time now and thoroughly enjoy the experience and opportunity to have my voice heard as not just an individual but also as a freelance writer and meet loads of new friends. I have met some tuly beautiful people here from across the other side of the world and my day would not be fullfilled without the Helium network, a place to share and care through the pen, or in our modern-day times, the computer keyboard!

God has all the answers we really will ever need in our modern-day troubled lives, including mental health issues that many seek the help of common therapists, counsellors and the like in healing. In many instances, the Bible which highlights many key issues is really the only text book many people will need as a healthy and sensible approach to Alternative Medicines and Therapies (not of the New Age type either). The Bible contains untold valuable writings with regard to human physical and mental health issues, both of the past and present. The body is the temple to house the soul and all the healing is contained within. No appointments to keep, no financial outlay, other than the cost of a good sound Bible if you don't already own one, and little interuption to your daily schedule. I myself, in conjunction with an Australian Christian Therapist are working on a Book Series of 10 books that site God's most important words with regard to mental health issues. However, it will carry a somewhat different flavour of presentation tha that of the Bible, in the hope that more people will actually read God's word and bring it into their lives literally as opposed to placing the Good Book on the shelve to gather dust and cobwebs! Our intention for the book is to present God's Word in a fun-filled, fun-loving adventure book style, complete with all the things people love to see in books these days. Some of these elements will include fairies, forests, castles, temples, Australian flora and fauna etc., Whilst maintaining a strict dicipline code of ethics in presenting God's Word truly as it appears in the Bible. Let us all pray that our book will become as popular as other book series titles that hold millions of readers attention right to the very end of the last book! Let us pray it will be a book that people will read on the train to work, in the cafe at lunch, and proudly display it on their desk! With God, all things are possible and in accordance with the teachings of Jesus as he did and in a non-conforming style unique to himself, we shall follow a similar style. Jesus life was not boring, it was filled with adventure! It is our hope and dream to bring God and Jesus closer to our modern-day realities as opposed to stories of God and Jesus that seem now so far removed from human realities becase people do not for the majority actually live them out. Let's face it, how many kid at school will speak endlessly of Harry Potter and how many will speak of the Bible. Technology does not have all the answers, it is only in part, more of His Story, God's ie; to speak over-all literally. So, anyone interested in the topic of Alternative Medicines and Therapies (not of the New Age type either), issues and God's healing with such, please drop me a line, I would love to hear from you look forward to any input you may wish to contribute!

Non-denominational churches do tend to follow the same church model that is seen in the book of Acts.

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I've been a Helium member for almot a year, and have just discovered this group. I mostly write about alternative health and gardening, plus some creative writing. My husband and I live in Texas, but I worked at a faith-based homeles shelter in Arizona from 2006-2009. It's a blessing to find this wonderful group, and I look forward to the fellowship.

Blessings,

Judy

Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let you gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious for anything, but in everything by pray and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.   And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

On the surface somebody may think that way. Why will God mighty and powerful ask as to give? However when one considers how much God has given one quickly realises that Goe has given everything. He created for us this wonderful planet. All that we think we are giving Him is His creation. He is the one who has given us power to get wealth.Everything in nature including us depend on each other.Trees take in carbon dioxide and give oot oxygen without which we cannot survive.Dont you see why next time you won't comlain before you give! God who has give everything when he tells us to give he wants us to learn one of Hisd great qualities giving. What can one give to the one who created gold and diamond? Undestand giving is good medicine for ourselfishness.

 Luke

CHAPTER 2

And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2  This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. 3  So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.
4  Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5  to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6  So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7  And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
8  Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9  And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10  Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12  And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger."
13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
14  "Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"
15  So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us." 16  And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. 17  Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18  And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19  But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20  Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.
21  And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called JESUS, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.
22  Now when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord 23  (as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the LORD"), 24  and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of the Lord, "A pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons."
Simeon Sees God's Salvation
25  And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26  And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27  So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, 28  he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said:
29  "Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace,
According to Your word;
30  For my eyes have seen Your salvation
31  Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples,
32  A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles,
And the glory of Your people Israel."
33  And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him. 34  Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against 35  (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."
Anna Bears Witness to the Redeemer
36  Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; 37  and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. 38  And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
Merry Christmas!

My choice in music is really either. Which ever suits the style of your congregation. I know with in my church, we use all. We usually sing at least one Hymn each service along with some Praise Songs. The ones from the congregation that wants to sing is always welcome to come and help in the "choir". Then of course we always open up to anyone who may be there that may want to sing a "special", where they play and sing or have their own choice selection of sound track that they get up and sing too. The Lord still moves in all of them. There's not one that's more important than the others.

 Hello Tori!

Yes I feel that is a good balance, some of the old hymns are very moving and people do respond to them, but the newer praise songs and worship songs are wonderful too.

I absolutely agree with everything that Jeremiah has said, God gives us everything we need and we must constatnly thank Him and be awed by him.  One verse that does not out-and-out say that God is rich defiitely insinuates so:

"Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth" Psalms 46:10

God has made everything so I very much doubt He is poor.  Psalms 46:10 is God saying that He is amazing in every way, including His never-ending wealth that He is so brilliant as to share a piece with us.

Tithing, helping fund God's work so everyone can know how amazing he truly is!  Glory to the Lord!

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire.  He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Psalms 40:2

but my other could easily be

The Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you the victory. Deut. 20:4

Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither hath entered inhto the heart of man, the things God hath prepared for them that love Him.

I suppose some Bible wiener could inform the public of Book, Chapter, and Verse.  I never bothered when memorizing scripture because I never intended to quote with purpose of theological argument.  I just use it for self-encouragement.  It is comforting to think myself alone on the North Pole in my head, thinking Scripture.

I will impose a second upon others, with forbearance requested.

Fear of man bringeth a snare.  But whoso trusteth in the Lord will be kept safe.
