Well, Here we go. Let's turn this into a really informative and fun place. I have read many of the fishing articles on Helium and there's a lot of information we can exchange and talk about. Hope to see and hear from fellow outdoor writers soon. RR

Well, it looks like someone found there way here.  I created this thing and I'm still kinda lost.

I'm at the lake right now but the fish just don't seem to be biting. I think it's probable me, though.  I don't have the patience one should for this cold water fishing.  The surface temp here is bouncing between freezing and 40 degrees and the fish just aren't that active.  It will be about two months before things really get going, I think.

BTW, I've created a Fishing zone, too.  If anyone would like to be an editor and add some of their own stuff there, let me know.  Right now all I have are links to the main channels for articles and a few of my articles on there.

So let us know, what do you usually fish for and where do you fish? Any luck lately?

Went to Bushwhacker Lake here in SW Missouri today, it was in the 50s so I actually thought I might get into some crappie. That was not the case, never even caught a bluegill, but the Bass were hittin' like crazy. My first cast with a chartruese spinnerbait with copper willow leaf blades got nailed by  a Bass that aout bent my rod double. It made two runs and a jump and spit the lure back at me. What fun.lol I also caught several smaller ones, about 14", but since they were within the slot I put them back.

I was going to post a picture, but I haven't figured out how to yet. Anyway, it was a great day.

I can usually be found fishing for Crappie, Bass, Catfish, and Bluegill. I mad a post Sunday about some Bass I had just caught, they were both around 5 lbs. and 191/2" long. I lost a nice one first thing and I would guess it would have easily touched 7 lbs or more. I fish lakes, ponds, and creeks here in SW Missouri. But I have fished in Kansas, Arkansas, Georgia, S. Carolina, Texas, Louisiana, California, and Nevada.

As a none fishing person I have linked your group to my Gone Fishin' zone. Hope you do not mind.

Ethel, while I'm not in charge, I see no problem with your link. I visited your zone and it looked like a good read. Welcome, the more the merrier. RR

Thanks Russell. Gone Fishin' has gone peculiar today and I am trying to fix it. The zone will not carry anything contentious and hopefully it will attract more members to your forum. Happy Easter by the way.

Thank you Happy Easter to you also. Hopefully more people will start coming to the group, since the idea was brought up people expressed a lot of interest, but that seems to be as far as it went. Have a good day and good luck with your site. RR

I know what you mean I have found that with the groups. Perhaps it is because of the hoidays and everyone being busy experimenting with the Helium zones. It may all settle down soon. I think I have sorted out the Gone Fishin' glitch now.

Good luck with your group.

I've fly fished rivers, lakes, and streams. But yes, I've also tried catcing those elusive tree fish (never went after a power pole fish, but I imagine it is similar.)

I'll admit that I'm not nearly the quality of fly fisherman that my brother is. I've seen him make casts over over 60 feet, right on the money, and laying the fly on the water so gently it didn't make a ripple. Then again, I've seen him catch a 15 pound steelhead because of it. My largest steelhead was slightly over a pound.

Like anything though, it takes practice, and the best practice is on the water. (There are advantages, too...no power poles. lol)

Has everyone in the fishing writers collaborative seen my fish poem?

(Alternate title: Gnu Clear Fission)
WOULD JEWFISH WITH ME?

‘Cause rotting in the sun, fish smelt so bad
I plaiced a tarpon a dead dogfish.
Don’t like to give my cat fish.
But since she was sniffin’ round,
I tossed a chunk of haddock to Puss.
When I had time to mullet Dover,
I snook a look, just for the halibut.
My guts began to flounder.
Never sawfish look so crappie!
Since I was near a bar ah coulda,
Put t’ rout my heaving gorge,
Drinkin’ beer til ah pee a bit.
Such was my strongest urgin’.
Didn’t do it on porpoise.
I’m hard of herring, atrophied of mussel,
And as Cod’s my wetness,
Blind as a small-mouth bass turd.

For calling Phil A. Aswhole.
Tried to buy some coke ‘n he
Had some shnook gimme a sock I
Didn’t see comin’. Woke up in
Some dungeon as I felt
A sculpin stuck in my head.
Had Paul Lock fish it out,
With his orca straw’s pike.
The one he waves to conduct
“I’ll Take Menhaden.”
“Bream When You’re Feeling Bluefish.”
“Blennies from Heaven,”
“Salmon Chanted Evening,”
“Me and My Shad Roe” and
“The Boogie Woogie Bluegill Boy.”
O No! Nearly forgot “Tuna yet? Tuna Yet?”
From “The Wet Side’s Dory”
Sung by Lou Trawls, with some grouper other.
His biggest char buster since
 “Trolling Down the Reefer.”

When I graduated from high school in Spain,
We marched to Lock’s
Orcastral recording of
“Pompano Circumstance,”
By Eduardo El Gar.

Lock’s a little shrimp
Just sardine out in podnership with
Ann Jovi, Finn & Haddy.
Billed me six quid.
But…Aw, he’s to me the Manatee Hour!

No taxis in the cabby zone
So we hadda  limpet home,
But nautilus’d been shad on
By a gull, my mortal anemone.
Tried to spear ‘im but he
Went off at a scallop.

“Wahoo!” Mm my w-w-w-wife like to
Laugh turbot off.
 (Excuse me, I tender st-st-otter a tad,
Polish being my first lingo.)
Threatened to croaker—
 I only manta rays
A noise ter clam her up.
If I smack ‘er I’ll be guilty
Of spousal mollusk station.

If you see any more res absurdis,
With which this crock abalone
Could congergate,
Let minnow.

Walleye think it’s time to reel ‘em up.
Snagged a few keepers;
Thresher otter be scuttled!

Mus’ key off now.
Sky’s misting gray.
Betta quit,
If you’ll permit.

I gotta guppy.
