From the colleagues that I have had the pleasure of working with I can say the response to your question is yes.  There are a number of benefits to National Board Certification.  I am not sure if you are a teacher, counselor, etc.  NBC can earn you an extra 3-5K annually by your district.  Some states/districts are able to get supplements from the government to pay the extra money to someone who is National Board Certified.  Also, the network opportunities are great.  The professional organizations you have access to are a great benefit to getting yourself out there; especially if you have superintendent aspirations.  Hope this helped.
