The new contraceptive pill that stops menstruation in women cannot possibly be healthy. If all one does is watch the television commercial-you hear that it can cause in-between bleeding that may be as heavy as a normal period.
Even the old-fashioned birth control pill has never actually been deemed safe, really. The medical industry is always flip-flopping about whether or not is causes or prevents breast cancer, blood clots, high blood pressure and a host of other maladies than range from mild to deadly.
While it is a fact that next to complete abstinence, tying one's tubes or a vasectomy, birth control pills are the most accurate way to avoid unwanted pregnancy, it still messes with a women's basic body chemistry. How can that be a healthy thing?
I am not opposed to using any form of pregnancy prevention. I would encourage it, especially for either the very young (who have enough of a time caring for themselves), those who have underlying health issues and those who age-wise would make it unfeasible to raise a child comfortably. However, one's health needs to be put before one's convenience.

Just like anything other medication that is making its first appearance, people are weary of the side effects of a new drug. And why shouldn't they be? Contraceptive pills have a major impact on women's bodies- even the kind that doesn't stop menstruation completely.
I imagine that although the first birth control pill ever released, Enovid, in 1960, was more than welcome by woman, it was probably taken with fear. Nothing like this had ever been done before. Control of the menstrual cycle? Stopping fertility? Sounds scary when it's never been done before.
However, the use of birth control pills have blossomed today into something insanely popular. The forms are widespread and with good reason; every woman has a different reaction to the type of pill. Because there are so many forms, there is constantly a new pill to try until she finds the right one for her!
In 1960, most woman welcomed the idea of a birth control pill, although some thought they were just innately wrong for mankind. It's happening again- only this time, it's a new form of birth control. This one stops your period all together. Just as in 1960, the idea is welcomed by many, shunned by some, and scared by almost all.
Just as with any other approved pill, it has been tested and released only through FDA approval. Think about it for awhile, why would this pill be any less safe than your regular birth control pills? It is just like taking the active pills in your birth control pack, and skipping the inactive pills. The reason for the inactive pills is simply to give you a period. But why?
I can't think of any woman who would say she welcomes this monthly visit. It's a pain, especially as far as athletics and summer vacations go. And it's costly- think of how much could be saved on feminine products!
They say once you start taking this pill you will experience breaththrough bleeding for awhiel until your body adjusts, and then once you stoptaking it, it could be awhile until your body readjusts back to the way it was before. Therefore, it may take awhile for your period to return- but research shows that it will. So as far as I'm concerned, what's the problem? No more periods? Sounds like a dream come true!
