When asked the question, "Is Drew Carey the best choice to host The Price Is Right," my response is, "Yes, definitely." Drew Carey has brought a dying Price is Right back to life and brought a renewal to the entire show. I have watched Price Is Right for about 30 years plus and I could see, the older Bob Barker got, the more impatient he got. I felt his attitude to some of the contestant, at times, was beginning to come on strong and it was definitely affecting the over all show. I believe it was time for Bob Barker to step down and go out in his glory. He was a great host but there comes a time in all programs that a change needs to be made.
I'm definitely not saying Bob Barker wasn't a great host over the years, but lets face it, he had done his time, and it was time for him to go. The addition of Drew Carey, as host to the Price Is Right, at first, was a new face where we had seen the same person standing for many years. I must admit, at first, I wondered if Drew had what it took to bring the show back to life but after only a short time, I saw him interfacing with the contestants in such a positive and great way. It was obvious that he was jovial and such an active caring person and he, himself, was enjoying the show as much as the contestants. My husband and I love to watch the expressions on Drew's face as the contestants win or lose. If a contestant loses, he shows an honest disappointed face, and when they win his eyes gleam and he is as happy as they are. Drew has such a loving personality that I don't know who would not love his hosting.
I enjoy the way he teases with the contestants and the way he jumps up and down with them, this makes for a happy audience on the set, as well as in our homes, while we watch the show. There's never a minute the show isn't exciting and full of fun. I love the audience interactions and the interactions the contestants have with Drew. They jump on him, kiss him, hug him, and who know what else will happen in his renewal blessings of the Price Is Right set. I'm truly overjoyed with Drew and find him to be one of the best television hosts on television. He puts his body and soul into every game and he brings a new "spice" to the show. Drew also shows so much respect for every contestant and he knows how to operate the game with fun, joy, honesty, and a job well done. I would sure hate to see Drew not on the show because of the true laughter and fun he has brought to the "New Price Is Right Set."

There is no denying that Bob Barker changed many lives. He touched many, and he was one that many of us grew up watching (whenever we were home sick from school). The day he left the Price is Right is one that many will remember. Some rejoiced with him and his decision to do something different after a long and very good run. Others where just sad that he left.
Drew Carey was announced as the new host. I was okay with that. After all Drew has done an amazing job with "Who's Line is it Anyway?" and the new game show "The Power of Ten". While a huge change from Bob, he has brought something special to "The Power of Ten" and proven that he can indeed be a game show host.
However, in the first few weeks of Drew hosting "The Price is Right" he proved that he wasn't the man for the job. Watching him was almost painful. He was stiff and instead of injecting his personality into the game, he tried to imitate Bob (right down to "have your pet spayed or neutered"). The show was awful. He wasn't excited, and after all people winning money, cars, and other beautiful prizes should indeed be exciting. He wasn't funny or friendly. It was just an awful show.
After a couple of months, I checked back to see if he was doing any better. He wasn't. He still wasn't himself, still wasn't really friendly with the audience and the people brought up to the stage. He wasn't excited or exciting. He was more comfortable hugging the guys on "Who's Line is it Anyway?"!
This may come down to Drew Carey isn't the man or it may come down to, no one is the man (or woman). After all, Bob Barker's shoes were very impressive ones to try and fill. He had a way with the show that really made "The Price is Right". He had a way with the people and really seemed to care. He seemed to care, and to enjoy getting his hugs and such. People loved him, were devoted to him, and "The Price is Right". It may be, that whoever goes in and tries to take the show over will be nothing more then a huge disappointment. But, no matter which way you look at it, Drew Carey is definitely not the man for the job.
