The Chinese have made some truly fantastic contributions throughout history. The abacus, the compass and the first paper currency are among them. There was a time during the heydays of trading along the Silk Road that China was one of the most wealthy and influential nations on Earth.

Things have changed and are continuing to change, some things for the better and some for the worse. Unfortunately in its rush to become an important global player again, China has been getting lots of bad press lately about fake goods being produced and distributed on a massive scale. It hurts the economy whether the Chinese people know it or not, and whatever the products might be, toys, clothing or medicine, they can be really dangerous. However, the difference between obeying the laws and moral standards when it comes to making safe goods and generating a profit no matter what is a gap which most Chinese people are not worried about.

China is still a relatively poor country, and it's has the largest population on Earth. All of its citizens, 1.4 billion of them, need money to survive and they will do anything to turn a profit, large or small. If that means filling a plastic bottle with tap water and claiming it comes from a natural source, or peddling fake DVDs, so be it. It's every man and woman for themselves because they have no other source of income.

Yes, China's economic and social image is, and will continue to be criticized. Maybe the country's reputation has already suffered irreparable harm. The moral ramifications however just don't mean very much for a people who are struggling to survive. The production of goods will continue nonetheless.

The country has been referred to as "The world's largest factory." Is it true, establishments of this type are popping up all over rural areas, because they keep the economy going. They are producing just about everything you can imagine, from door hinges to hairbrushes to cutlery. The Chinese police knowingly protect those who are making counterfeit products because they provide jobs to poor people.

Most Chinese are either not aware or indifferent to the poor reputation of products shipped from their country. Sooner or later, somebody WILL buy them; it's not a question of whom but a question of when. Taking into account the laws regarding copyright infringement and the questionable safety of the goods coming out of China, since when are the average factory workers and urban employees concerned about the image of the nation? The political spotlight is benign and solely a concern of the officials in Beijing, not on the factory floor where most people's wages are earned.

China is a big manufacturing they have franchise around the world, you can see every store made in china products. All the publicity scared people to buy product from china because of the toxic. The toys that kids love to play. People scared too to buy anything even the food. Probably some people they don't want to buy Chinese food because they scared what's in it. It is reduces their reputation all the business persons that they have big company, their manufacturing the franchiser around the world. It was so depressing. You can read every where, you can hear the news about the toxic toys made from china. Their putting them down because of all the store where you are going to you can see made in china products. I guess they do have an inspection before the products come out from factory before they franchise them. Before you go on business you suppose have to look and inspect thoroughly of the product and your reputation in it, your business depends on it. I have a friend scared now to buy a toy made in china and I thinking about it too if I can buy from made in china. Even my in laws doesn't want to buy made in china. I think most Chinese people ashamed what's happening right now it could damage their reputation too. You should understand their feelings mostly the people that they only have one business to make them live. And anywhere you go there is a china town all store you can see Chinese of course. Some people too love Chinese product because some of them superstitious, some of the Chinese product can heal illness. You know people some of them believe rumor and some of them not. There are many kinds of person in this world. There some people try to put you down and some people try to put you in pedestal.
