The stark contrast between the last and first time of her appearance since her arrest clearly indicates that she realizes that no one is above the law. The mere fact that when escorted back to court she was minus any makeup and wailing like a petrified baby is indicative of a complete reversal of mentality.

She was always so smug and sure of herself before this reality check that it leads one to believe that just like a bully who has been challenged realizes that the gig is over and can never be quite as effective in bullying others again.

In the case of Hilton, this is a sobering experience that will always remain in her memory, and probably the best thing that could have happened to her to bring her down to the level she belongs.

This can be a positive experience for her in that she will be setting an example for others who think they can just push the justice system off as a nuisance as one would swat off a fly buzzing around their face.

I have to admit that if I had to look at that smirk of hers much longer before I witnessed her breakdown of sorts in the back of the sheriffs car being brought back to court, knowing that anyone else wouldn't stand a chance under the same circumstances, I probably would have had a breakdown myself as she got under my skin so badly that it couldn't have been better timing.

I don't think that those who defend this little drip realize how important it is for her to serve her time. She was driving a weapon that could have killed someone, and if allowed to continue, it surely would happen one day, and then it's too late.

People serve years for just waiving a handgun which is no different than a drunk driving a 3,000 pound vehicle. Both are weapons and both can accidentally take a life if not handled properly.

If Hilton uses this experience to help others realize that being irresponsible can land them some time in the clink, then she may be able to gain some notoriety in a positive way, and then possibly gain some respect from the mass majority instead of those few whose minds are in space somewhere as they have shown via of their protesting her incarceration.

The problem with putting Paris Hilton in jail is that we all have to suffer for her mistakes. In the first place, what important news stories are we missing out on because all the networks have to spend ridiculous amounts of air time covering Paris Hilton's incarceration? How many times can you view the same pointless news story about some rich woman's legal troubles? How long will this issue be used as a poster story for the crusade against drunk driving? How many times do I have to watch this woman cry about doing a few days of easy time in the county slammer? Aren't there wars going on in Africa we could be informed of instead of all the media drivel about some rich persons misdemeanors?

I think it would have been better if the judge ordered Paris to do a hundred hours of community service. She could have done some work, like cleaning graffiti off the walls of some East LA school. She could have learned her lesson by shoveling slag onto the paths of the county golf course. She could have learned first hand about the evils of drunk driving by picking up empty beer cans from the side of the road, and she could have made herself useful by cleaning up some of the trash from the county parks where kids play.

It would have been better if Paris Hilton got some therapy for her alcohol addiction. Any person with enough cash to afford a limo and driver has no excuse for driving around drunk. Maybe if our legal system addressed the cause of anti-social behavior by assigning people to medical treatment for their addictions instead of locking them up where all they think about is when they can get wasted next we wouldn't have as many problems with drunk driving and drug addiction. Maybe if we had a media that didn't make fame such an important issue, we wouldn't have to ask such questions.
