As much as I admire the cast in the Movie I have to give this a thumbs down. Before I explain why I feel obligated to pay tribute to Johnny Depp one of the most talented contemporary actors I have ever seen on screen. The rest of the cast did I fine job however I think the story was loosely woven together and ended up being just another pirate movie. There was very little new story context and the language in the movie was almost difficult to understand through all the pirate accents, Caribbean talk, 16th century prose and British and Asian Accents. On top of that the soundtrack was uninspiring to me i.e. if I don't leave a movie feeling like I just walked off a new planet then chances are I didn't like it.

To explain my view further, this movie was made by Hollywood with big bucks and a super all star cast but the script, editing and music of the movie was the reason for the deficit in my opinion. A movie is more than just money and strong actors it is also good production and this movie was simply not produced well in my perspective. I feel somewhat redeemed I saw it as a matinee and found the preview of Ocean's 13 and the Cameo by a certain Rock and Roll Star who I won't mention to be the highlights of my time at the theater. Great preview and a great Cameo, did I just repeat that? That's because they were good! To illustrate more elaborately I outline the things I didn't like about each area of production below.

1) Soundtrack: The music delivered but didn't inspire. Great music compels the emotions, drives the spirit and invigorates the mind. I felt none of these things during the movie. Maybe I was distracted or maybe the music just wan't my thing.

2) Editing: During the movie I found myself thinking what part of the off set production crew the actors may have been looking at while performing and if the production crew were sitting while filming or standing. In other words, I was distracted and movies aren't supposed to make me think about their production but rather become a part of the story.

3) Script: Since I write a little I have a small ear for script. While I was not really on the lookout for script duologue during the film I found the storyline to be a reweave of old context and too repetitive for me. However, my companion during the movie commented on a couple of researched factual historical tidbits within the film which impressed her. I realize it may not be easy to write a whole movie script, but we're talking about Hollywood here.

So, that's my take on 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End'. I think it was slightly better than 'Dead Man's Chest' due to the fact Johnny Depp had a lot more lines in this movie and consequently the Johnny Depp talent factor improved the movie in that area. So if you are a Johnny Depp fan, you'll get more of him in this movie, actually quite a bit more of him as you might see in the movie. In my opinion this movie would did not fully utilize its talent, and would have been a waste of my time and money were it not for the fact the person I saw it with liked it.

Disney definitely has another swashbuckling hit on their hands in P3. As a fan of both of the earlier movies even I will admit that the first was more satisfying because it seemed to have at least an end to the specific adventure. P2 left us with so many questions that, although good, left you uncomfortably waiting for months to know the rest of the adventure. Questions unresolved in P2 that are indeed answered are (1) can they bring back Jack? (2) How in the world is Barbosa back?, and (3) will Will and Elizabeth be able to patch things back together when Will thinks she's betrayed him and she's steeped in guilt over leaving Jack to die at the hands of Davy Jones beloved and horrendous sea monster?

Pirates of the Caribbean 3 is nearly a three hour film, but packed to the gills with adventure. There are a few more sexual innuendos in this third film. Parents may want to watch it themselves first before taking a young child, but overall even these are done in a humorous fashion. I will not spoil anything in this review except to say that the ending to P3 does not turn out as you think it will as you watch for the first time... Also, Disney has left it wide open for a possible fourth film end the title of that one is definitely brought up as the next adventure for Captain Jack at the end of P3. P3, like the first film, has a more satisfying end to it. There are loose ends that can definitely lead to a fourth film, but the specific adventure at world's end is fairly resolved at the end of the film.

Additionally, I was warned that you do want to sit through the credits because there is a short scene at the end of the credits you won't want to miss - and it was indeed worth the wait! (Besides, the long list of people involved in the making of another wonderfully fun and spirited pirate yarn deserve at least a little of the attention...don't they?) So hang tight in your seat till the end of the credits and enjoy a few more minutes of the story.

This was a long film, but with so much action the time flew by - well, except when the people in the middle of my row kept leaving the room to check their cell-phone (grrr). Make sure you've got all your popcorn etc. before it starts - because you're not going to want to miss a minute of the fun. Enjoy!
