Superman

Superman is the dominate comic book superhero of all time, he was since he was created and will be for time and memorial, after all he is - SUPER. Superman is superior from every aspect imaginable. He does not have to resort to tricks like Spider-Man to get over large buildings. Superman does it in a single bound, and Spider-Man, he has to use sticky stings that flows from a wrist band. Now how can they even be close in comparison, and that is just one example. Superman has flown around the earth and turned back time, while Spider-Man does not even have the gift of flight. Superman has a the classic "S" for superman across the front of his outfit, a cape and gets away with disguissing himself by simply taking off a pare of glasses. Spider-Man? He is covered by a silly set of tights with spider webs drawn on them, has to cover his face with a mask, and what does he do in his spare time, take pictures, where Superman has a serious job as a journalist, which takes more talent and helps in his crime fighting. Superman was not from earth originally, he was sent here after conflict on his planet blew up his birthplace, Krypton, but his parents had a purpose for his journey here, and that was to save us from ourselves. On the other hand Spider-Man was accidentally bitten by a radioactive spider. They simply are not comparable. Superman was the first to have his own award winning television show and all other comic book heros come in a distant second, following in wake of Superman.
Lex Luthor is Superman's archenemy, and is famous for his diabolical plots to destroy the planet and take it over. Spider-Mans' competition is in the form of a bunch of second rate villains. Spider-Man is a mere armature in comparison. The important distinction is that Superman fights for, Truth, Justice and the American Way, while Spider-Man fought in revenge of his uncles death when he needed money. That sums it up, does it? Not even to mention Superman has ex-ray vision and superhuman strength. Spider-Man has some superhuman abilities like being lighting fast and is very personable. But no superhero will ever get the adoration that the, one for all time superhero receives, and that is-SUPERMAN, THE MAN OF STEEL.

Spiderman

I come from a poor, hardworking family where the luxury of buying comic books was few and far between. I had to rely on my older brothers to buy comics when they had some extra money. What did they buy? Spiderman, of course. This is how I got hooked on Peter Parker's alter ego. I liked Superman and watched him when his cartoons or movies were on but Spiderman was my hero. From the first page of the first Spiderman comic book I read, i wanted to meet Spiderman. I wanted to be Spiderman. I had been fascinated with Thor, the God of Thunder, but this superhero could do so much more than Thor. This superhero actually had spider web up his sleeve and could shoot it out his fingers. Now, how cool was that? I was also fascinated with a character who was an orphan and raised by a poor elderly aunt. I had so many brothers and sisters, I had no concept of what being an orphan meant but Peter Parker and his alter-ego helped me to understand.

The main reason I liked Spiderman so much was because he could do everything Superman could do, except he was way cooler about it. He could fly and didn't even need a cape. His spider webs helped him to soar through the sky, jump from building to building, climb the Empire State Building, and hook onto to trains so he could race ahead the police and beat themt to the crime scene. He had ex-ray vision. Well, sort of. His spidy sensories "tingled" when danger was around so he could almost "see" things. His spider suit gave him strength-to outrun the villain. He was the first superhero to incorporate acrobats into his super fighting powers, helping him to elude the bad guys. By no means should that make you think he was a chicken and ran, he just out-maneuvered the bad guys, jumped around them, and twisted them up in spider webs.

Okay, so you got me. Maybe Spiderman couldn't stop a single bullet with his chest, and maybe he couldn't fly to the stars, and obviously he couldn't shoot beams from his ex-ray eyes, but he was much cooler than Superman and therefore much more entertaining. Superman was such a stickler for looking proper, he never messed up his hair. Spiderman, though, was always moving, barely getting away from trouble before trouble found him. At least they had one thing in common. They were both losers in the romance department. Both were extremely shy around women when they were "normal" men, and therefore never got to first base. At least not in the comic books.
