No one can deny that on paper PS3 is easily the better console, I could list the specs, but there are a lot and...well I'm a bit lazy. But the fact is a doodle of a caveman looks good on paper, but in real life it would just be a 2D freak of nature.
Yes the PS3 has Blue-Ray which can happily out play the 360's DVD9 and limbo at the same time but we are talking about games consoles here and the PS3 is severely lacking in games. Oh no my mistake they have 'Big Small Tiny Planet' or whatever, I can make a dog and then jump on it and oh look I'm bored. I didn't think I could ever dislike Stephen Fry but I am close to hating him right now. Sadly(and I mean this sincerely) that is the only game I can think of.
What have made Playstation consoles so successful up until now was saying yes, saying yes to everything that came their way, so the other consoles couldn't have it. Did you ever the notice the huge pile of pap that was released on the PS2, don't worry most people didn't seem to. The only problem now is the 360 is an established console and with times as they are, developers aren't going to risk anything on going to the kid on the block. No one wants to play with the spoilt little rich boy with all the new gadgets. Don't get me wrong they are lovely shiny gadgets but who really needs a space pen, when they most likely will never go into space AND a Biro works perfectly well in zero gravity.
You also have to look at the online aspect of both consoles. Hang on a minute does the PS3 even have online capabilities? It must do, otherwise 'Brittle Pig Planet' would be useless, but were is the hype, where are the GAMES. I know you can slaughter the undead with some mates on Xbox Live but what can you do on...urm, is it the Playstation Network? I'm not sure no one told me. It's like they are keeping quiet to hide their embarrassment. Sony tried to imitate 360 achievements as well but really unless that lovely green ring appears and you can truly call it an achievement who cares.
360 graphics are still fantastic, the games are slightly more affordable and there are generally more off them, and they weren't being given out free by Carphone Warehouse over the Christmas period(that is bad news in anyone's books). In time, when companies stop worrying so much about money and people can once again splurge on gaming(I have my eye on one of those gaming chairs), the PS3 will reign supreme. But until that time the 360 is king.
God save the king!

For most people the question of which next gen video game console is the superior would spark a conversation. For me it is obvious and it should be to you too. One of the largest incentives when purchasing a PS3 is the fact that not only are you getting a video game system but also a Blu-Ray disc player that alone can cost upwards of $700-$1000. The Xbox 360 has an optional Hi-Def DVD player that can be purchased and installed to your system seperately, too bad the film industry recently backed Blu-Ray over Hi-Def DVD's and the production of Hi-Def DVD's and players will soon halt completly.
Xbox Live has been praised by critics since its release and until this year as flaunted its superiority over Playstation 3 users. But this year is bound to be different and Microsoft knows it. This Fall will feature the release of Sony's much anticipated and highly awaited HOME. This feature will allow Playstation users to create avatars in their own image (supposedly you will have thousands of facial possabilities), have an actual Home that can be decorated to your liking and will feature a room where achievements from all your PlayStation 3 games will be displayed as trophys, ribbons, etc, have the ability to invite your friends to your Home to check out your skills as well as many many other features. Not only will this feature be revalutionary in the gaming industry but the fact that Sony refuses to charge for the use of its online features makes Xbox Lives Gold Membership cost seem a little steep. HOME is expected to boost the sales of PS3's by current Xbox 360 owners more than anything in the past.
Sony has also sweetened the PS3 pot by announcing that it soon hopes to bring us downloadable movies on the PlayStation store and they are preparing for this by replacing their 80GB model with a 120GB model for the same price. Xbox Live charges not only for a mere membership but also charges for your actual downloads. Sony doesnt make you "pay to play", and has swon it never will.
Until recently Xbox 360 has been on top of the online multiplayer game industry for the simple fact that it was the cheaper console therefore the more widely used one but thats in for a change as well. As many highly anticipated console exclusive games come to the PS3 and with the release of PlayStation 3 HOME the margins will narrow. It is a fact and is rarely argued that the rendering rate as well as color intensity on the PS3 system is far superior to the Xbox 360 console. Its simply more enjoyable to watch and as people realize what they have been missing they are going to want to take that superiority online. Within the next 2-3 years PS3 is destined to replace Xbox 360 for most FPS type games in MLG competions and tournaments.
How about simple quality of hardware? Which is superior in that catagory? Well to date there have been absolutely no reported over heating incidents with the PS3, unlike the Xbox 360 that had several thousand returns its first month on shelves because of incidents involving over heating. Microsoft blamed the incidents on under-powered cooling fans and quickly issued free attachable fans to consumers. Then there is also the mysterious Red Rings of Death that has been suffered by countless Xbox 360 owners since the products release. Due to some in factory programming error its possible for certain units to suddenly and completely stop working even after months and years of use. This condition is not fixable and requires the purchase of a new unit, if your warranty is intact you must wait up to 6 months to receive your new unit after to send in your broken one. There ave been no such similar issues with the PS3 which has generally received positive hardware reviews.
Since the price has dropped drastically since its release and it offers so much more than Microsoft could ever hope to deliver, the PlayStation 3 is the obvious superior console in the next generation race for the top.
