A degree from a properly accredited institution is just as valuable for your career. Proper research must be done in the learning support, the quality of instructors, and most importantly the accreditation of the degree to be taken. The shift in our society is moving towards an online education. Courses can be delivered through several forms of online medium, webcasts and email to name a few. Students can connect in forums and chat rooms. Working from home has the advantage of significant cost savings, a flexible schedule, and the ability to continue working perhaps in a related field.

In an example, two secretaries at a international trade company, neither can stop working due to financial constraints. Secretary "A" takes an online International Trade Relation Degree. Secretary "B" does not, but is interested in international trade relations. Secretary "A" works hard and asks questions about material she doesn't understand at the workplace. Eventually she gains her degree. A job opening becomes available and they both apply. Who do believe will get the job?

The most important factor is the accreditation. There are a multitude of online colleges offering every program under the sun. This is true of non-online colleges as well. Proper care must be taken in selecting an institution that will provide a quality piece of paper that is recognized in the work force. Also, several larger corporations have setup their own online learning centers. This allows them to teach relevant course material specific to their own industry.
