Yes. The problem has nothing to do with how much taxes are levied on our people, but how much spending our government does that is completely unconstitutional in the first place. We have a deficit, in other words we spend more money than we have. Giving our government more money won't fix that problem because they obviously spend money they don't have anyways, they'll just end up spending more.
Some people claim we need more taxes so our government has more money to spend on improving things like health care and education. Right, because it's totally the government's job to provide those things. The constitution gives no power to our government to do those things and the Founders would be appalled to know that they do now. Government needing more money to fix things? Psh, since when has government ever been efficient at anything but oppression?
Anyways, thats for another article. The main point really is that it's not that we're putting to little money into our government, they just disregard how much they spend period. Even if we were pumping in 5 times the amount we do now they'd just spend even more. There's not a single person who can doubt that. Our deficit is the result of our government having grown to big, too bureaucratic, and moved away from the constitution and what our Founders created it to be. We need to hold our leaders responsible for this, not merely argue about whether lowering or raising taxes is the solution, it's not. The solution is moving this country back to what is was meant to be.

The question here really comes down to, "Can the middle class live their lives with the current taxes in place?" Yes they can! We have been paying these taxes and can live off of them. While the government should limit its spending a little more, taxes are necessary to keep the freedoms that we have in place. I wouldn't mind if the upper class had an increase in their taxes to help pay off the high costs that the government gains since in my opinion, they have the most influence within the government. But as the movie "V for Vendetta" suggests and I believe, "People should not fear the government, but the government should fear the people."
We must contribute what we can and if those in power are following the wishes of the rich by giving them tax breaks and leaving the middle class to bear the larger burden, then it must be stopped! The old Robin Hood saying "Take from the rich to give to the poor!" Sure the rich may have worked hard to get where they are, but then being the helpful souls that they should be shouldn't be so hard for them. What they could spare to help the country out, is what many live off of. Many may not have the same opportunities as them and so in turn everyone should bear the burden that they can especially when the ones that can bear the biggest burden have the most say in what happens.
We can live with the current taxes, sure it would be nice to see them go down but with everything that we get from them is worth it. We live in the best country in the world and a little tax is worth my freedom especially when I have a choice to pay others to protect this country and put their lives at stake! So I would just like to extend a thank you to all military personnel serving our country.
