I believe, as a 22-year Armed Forces retired veteran (2007), that President Obama allowed American troops to leave Iraq too early. I believe President Obama's ONLY motivation was political. Iran is a threat to America, and leaving Iraq has allowed them to enter through our back door. The Iranian influence in the Middle east has greatly increased. Once Iran has established a foothold in Iraq, they will then concentrate their efforts on Yemen - of which their military support has already captured a town near the capitol of Yemen - then finish what they have started in Syria - as they have recently (unsurprisedly) been linked to arming and influencing Rebels in their attempt to crumble Syrian infrastructure - not to mention the foothold Iran has already established in Egypt and Libya - creating a Muslem Brotherhood (Iranian) Governments.

Once these Iranian objectives have been accomplished, Iran will focus their attention on Israel - an American ally. This will draw in America to a confrontation with Iran, as America has ALWAYS sided with Israel and will ALWAYS side with Israel. With American troops out of Iraq, any hope of democratic hope for the Middle East is no longer existent. President Obama knew this - as he knows this now - yet his political ambitions FAR out-weigh any concern he has for The United States of America, the men and women who serve in American Armed Forces, its Veterans, or the American population in general.

Obama is "Changing" America as he promised - he is transforming America into a weak, government-dependent, Socialistic society. President Obama IS the "Food Stamp" President. President Obama WANTS Americans to be addicted to Food Stamps, Social Security, and Unemployment. President Obama is the "icon" and symbology of the "Occupy Wallstreet" movement. He wants America to be dependent on Government - Socialism.

Pulling the troops out of Iraq was not only a mistake, it was the beginning of growth for Iranian middle east influence. Iran will continue to "taunt" America until the Presidential Elections in November - at which time, Obama will confront Iran - possibly confronting the Iranian militarily in the Straits of Hormuz by disguise as a threat to world oil dissruption as his excuse - thus attempting to "rally the nation" behind him in hopes of gaining and obtaining American voters for political gain in his final and possibly fatal attempt at re-election. May God have mercy upon us all.

American troops could not have left Iraq soon enough. American troops were brought to Iraq under the false pretense of Saddam Hussein possessing a mass quantity of WMD's that he intended to use against western nations. This transformed into part of the "War on Terror". So if you look at things from the angle of battling terrorists up close and personal, then yes, American troops did indeed leave too early. If you look at it from a "winning the war on terror" view, then they might as well have stayed there until the end of time.

The fundamental problem here is the same as it was in Vietnam. There was no definition of victory, therefore, the war was unwinnable. Had the coalition had a clear understanding of Iraq, it's people and it's culture, and a solid plan of what to do with Iraq, then the occupation would have lasted less than a year, Iraq would be as prosperous and powerful today as it was before the invasion (minus an evil dictator). Instead, poor planning and even poorer understanding led to a 9 year quagmire of coalition bloodshed and Iraqi civil chaos.

When the coalition invaded, the majority of the Iraqis welcomed them as liberators. A large portion of the Iraqi army surrendered without conflict. It was decided hat the Iraqi army should be disbanded. This was detrimental because it put a huge number of Iraqi males out of work, and simultaneously put the safety of Iraq and it's people 100% with the coalition, who had almost zero understanding of the complex social structure of muslim Iraq. Of course the Iraqis blamed the coalition for their unemployment, so they did the one thing they were trained to do, wage war against their occupiers.

The coalition proceeded then to forcefeed judeo-christian western democracy into Iraq, expecting them to just wake up and create a whole new civilization. It was at this point that the religious leaders organized a resistance that has to some degree lasted until this day.

At this point any hope for a traditional military victory was gone, and it became a matter of how long the coalition could stomach it before it's eventual withdrawal. There would have never been a "right time" to withdraw from ehat Iraq, the damage was done in 2003.

Despite all these things, Iraq has managed to survive thus far, and will hopefully continue to grow and improve itself. Hopefully this happens sooner than later, as a confrontation with Iran is inevitable.
