 The Young and the Restless is by far the best Soap Opera left on daytime television. According to SOAPnet is has been on for thirty-seven years. There are still a few of the original cast members on the show such as Eric Braeden as the famous Victor Newman.  Nobody can ever predict what Victor Newman is going to do or say next. He is always feuding with the Abbotts in some way, mostly with Jack Abbott. The feud has been going on since the beginning of the show. Victor is always trying to take over the Abbott family business called Jabot, which the feud has always been about.  

Jeanne Cooper plays Katherine Chancellor who has also been on since the beginning of the show.  Katherine has been fighting with Jill Foster off and on for years over Phillip Chancellor the first, who was the love of their life, and had been married to both women at one time and another until he died. Katherine has been a tough character throughout the years.  Katherine always seems to be in the middle between the Abbotts and the Newmans since she was friends with both families.  Melody Thomas Scott plays Nikki Reed who has been married to Victor Newman on and off ever since she has been on the show in 1978. According to Soap Central she had started the show when she was only seventeen. We have seen many stages in Nikki Reed’s life on the show going from being a striper to marrying Victor Newman who is a wealthy businessman on the show; as well as being an alcoholic.

 Why is Young and the Restless the best Soap Opera left today? Sad to say that there aren’t very many soaps left today for women to enjoy.  Between September and January, ABC loses two soaps. That isn’t the reason Young and the Restless is the most popular soap today.  The Young and the Restless have a way of keeping people in suspense and sitting on the edge of their seats. Just like any other soap, the storylines do have the tendency to drag on,  but not for a long period of time like other soap operas.  Even though some of the story lines do drag on they still keep their viewers coming back to see what is going to happen next.  The Young and the Restless has been bringing back some of the old original characters such as Snapper played by David Hasselhoff for  a few episodes.  They also keep bringing back the original Phillip Chancellor the third, played by Thom  Bierdz.  Young and the Restless keeps killing characters off and bringing them back to life more so than any other Soap Opera.  Young and the Restless is the best soap opera left in soap world since one never knows what is going to happen next.
