Cats

Are you looking for a new pet? Then I suggest that you consider getting a cat. Cats are beautiful, amazing, and independent creatures. They can virtually take care of themselves and don’t require as much attention or a whole lot of time consuming training.
If you properly train a cat to use the litter-box then, you can leave it indoors without the worry of having to clean up any ‘accidents’ when you return from doing errands or a short visit with friends. Quality cat litter like Tidy Cats can suppress any offensive odors produced by cat urine and feces so that you can “Keep your home smelling like home.” Owning a cat can have many benefits, especially for first-time pet owners. As a former cat owner, I can assure you that cats are not hard to care for. They don’t require much work and can be very enjoyable to have.
Cats are intuitive, intellectual creatures and these features allow them to learn very easily so, training is not a chore. Cats also appear to contain properties that are beneficial to humans. It has been theorized that a cat’s purr has healing properties. Scientific studies have shown that frequencies similar to a cat’s purr can reduce stress, anxiety, and can even appear to help speed up the healing process in people.
Cats are empathetic animals that can sense changes in our mood and will react to them in various, positive ways. Cats can even communicate with humans! By conducting experiments using Information Theory, Dr. Dennis Turner, a self established feline expert, and his students, proved that felines are communicating with humans. Information Theory is a mathematical system that is commonly used in computer science to determine whether communication is occurring. Perhaps the most rewarding thing about owning a cat is when you and your cat form a ‘pair-bond’.
Human-feline pair-bonds occur when you form a close connection or bond with your cat. This means the cat has decided to trust you and will show you constant affection and love. It will willingly spend its time with you and it may even become like a new best friend or a member of your family. The bond between you and your cat can last for a life time. Cats are a great choice for those who want a pet that is interesting, easy to care for, and a loving companion.

Dogs
If your thinking of getting a new pet, a dog makes a great companion. In my experience it is best to adopt or purchase them as puppies.
They will likely be alot of work but with patience and time they will grow into your best friend. Dogs need a good amount of care and love, especially when they are young. You will need to teach them what type of behavior you will expect of them as soon as you bring them home.
The first hurdle for the two of you will likely be housebreaking. Many people make the mistake of using newspaper or puppy pads, I do not recommend this strategy. The best way I have found is to take them outside several times a day and reward them with attention and treats when they go potty outdoors. Next will likely be the chewing factor. Keep plenty of soft chew toys available for them to cut down on the destruction of your shoes, rugs, etc..
Puppies can learn very quickly if your consistent with them. Any tricks or special things you want them to learn should be worked on as quickly as possible.
By the age of two they usually have learned most of what you could want them to. As opposed to spanking I prefer to use a stern tone of voice, which they will pick up on easily.Remember dogs live by instinct They will pick up on your emotions, moods and so on even when you don't mean for them too. They will often know when your happy, sad, sick or even tiered.
. Dogs love to be petted, played with and some even held in your lap, hence the term (lapdog). My own is about fifty pounds and still thinks he is a lapdog!
Whether you are considering a pure breed or mixed, the important thing to remember is they are a big responsibility.
All too often I see neglected dogs that people have become bored with, or don't have the needed time to spend taking care of them.
If you would like a larger breed it is best to have room for it to run. Smaller breeds can easily be kept in an apartment as long as they are walked a few times a day.
. Another thing to remember is, they must have regular shots. Your local vet can advise you to the best regimen for your dog. Myself I buy puppy shots at the localgrainery (except rabies) those must be administered at the vets office in order to receive a license.
There are many other experiences that will be unique to your dog as you go along, but I hope you and the dog you choose will have a wonderful partnership for many years to come!
