Teenagers are very keen to connect with each other, and dating is strongly on their minds.  Many love songs have been written and sung by teenagers.  There are clothing lines and television shows geared towards teenagers.  There should definitely be dating websites that are geared to teenagers who are interested in dating and who want to have a safe online dating experience.  Technically, teenagers ARE allowed to use dating websites because most dating websites are available to people who are at least 18 years of age.  That means that 18 year olds and 19 year olds are permitted to join dating websites because although they are teenagers, they are also legal adults.  But, what about younger teenagers who are interested in dating and want to give online dating a try?  They should have opportunities to try online dating for themselves.

Dating websites have been responsible for uniting millions of single people from around the world with compatible love interests.  In most places in the world, teenagers are legally able to get married at the age of 18 years old.  Some governments allow teenagers to legally get married at age 16.  It is necessary to build and nurture a relationship of trust and devotion before getting married.  If a young man or woman dreams of getting legally married soon after they turn 18, their dreams should be able to come true.  Teenagers should be able to have access to dating websites that are geared to them and their peers so that they can start their quests to have meaningful relationships.

Teenagers are still growing and learning about the world in which they live, but that does not mean that all teenagers are vulnerable targets for cyberspace predators.  A dating site like TeenSpot.com is a great website for teenagers who are looking to make relationships with other teenagers.  Dating websites for teens should ideally be geared to people between the ages of 15 and 18 years old because they are typically more mature than preteens and 13 and 14 year olds.  In addition to the lessons they learn in their school classrooms, teenagers need to learn life lessons such as proper ways of using a credit card and how to build healthy relationships.  Dating sites can give teens the forums they need to learn some important life lessons about proper ways to communicate and build bonds with other people.

Each person is genetically programmed to want and seek companionship.  It is pointless for parents to pretend that their teenage children are not going through puberty and developing romantic feelings for other people.  Teenagers are NOT going to stop using the Internet for social media, career opportunities, and to meet people.  There should be more opportunities for younger single teenagers to be able to meet other single teens who might end up being their soul-mates.  Parents should communicate with their children and educate them about the dos and don’ts of online dating.  There are also many articles on the Internet with advice about how to safely use dating websites.  Morally conscious dating websites geared to teenagers between the ages 15 and 18 should be embraced by teens and their families.  Teenagers are old enough to learn how to cook, prepare for college, drive cars, vote, and work, and they are certainly capable of using dating websites safely and effectively.

Dating sites can be scary whether you’re a teen or an adult. People can lie on their profiles to lure teens in. Even if a person posts a picture on their profile, doesn't always mean the picture is of them. I'm not a teen but my personal experience with dating sites, people can be anything they want to be. I did start seeing someone from a dating site that lied on their profile saying they were divorced. After seeing this person for a while, the truth came that he was married. He was separated, but he lied saying he was divorced when he was still legally married. The reason I use this scenario; to show that people aren't always who they say they are, whether you’re an adult or a teen using the dating sites.

Dating sites would especially be scary for teens since there are pedophiles out there just waiting to prey on kids. Predators can easily lie about their age on dating sites to lure a teen into trusting them, so the teen will eventually meet them. Once the teen meets up with the person they thought was a kid their age, often finds themselves caught up in a situation they can't get out of such as being raped, kidnapped, or even killed.

It's the parent’s responsibility to monitor what their teens are doing on the internet by setting parental controls on their computer to control what sites their teens do on the internet. A parent should never be afraid to check to see what their teens are doing on the internet no matter how mad they get. Remember it’s for the teens own good and safety to nose around what they are doing while using the computer

The internet isn’t a safe haven for dating whether it’s on a dating site or in a chartroom. It’s easily to fall for someone on the internet since we can’t see whom we are talking to on the other side of the computer.  Guys have a way of sweet talking a girl through the computer to get them to believe what the guy wants the girl to believe. The dating sites do not screen people who use their sites. There are some dating sites out there that are free and some that aren’t. All a person has to do is sign up for the dating sites, set up a profile, and verify their account by clicking the verification sent by e-mail. By all means it is not ok for a teen to sign up for dating sites.
