Brand name clothes are indeed worth the extra money. After all these brand name clothes have a reputation to live up to. The high end department stores use their quality merchandise to attract and keep customers happy and in the latest styles. The high end dept stores usually stand by their expensive merchandise. For instance, a department store such as a Nordstrom, Macy or Bloomingdales stands by their clothing merchandise and will vouch for the long lasting wear of the garment. Why settle for defective merchandise? Brand names have stood the test of time for good reasons.
The retail price of these garments sold in these high end stores is marked up quite bit. A consumer must keep in mind, that the cost of paying for the sales personnel and the comfy dressing rooms is also factored into the price of the clothing. Consumers can still shop for these brand name clothes at various outlets throughout the country. Brand name clothing is now affordable and sold at stores such as Target and J.C. Penney. Brand name clothing easily translates into quality in workmanship and textiles that don't bleed, shrink or fade.
Brand name clothing usually won't fray or fade after just one washing. The sizing of brand name merchandise is more exact to size. Most plus size women will find that they are usually a whole size smaller in brand name clothing. A size sixteen in an off brand dress or pants, can usually fit into a size twelve in the brand name garment. This might also be a case of vanity sizing. However, the size specifications on brand name clothing is more exact and consistent.
Poor people can not afford to buy poorly made clothing. Chances are these items of clothing will be passed on to other family members. A pair of Calvin Klein jeans I purchased seven years ago is still in perfect condition. It seems I got what I paid for. My daughter actually grew out of those jeans because they did not fade in the wash or fray in any way.
Most teens would rather die than be seen in clothing that is not a name brand. The budget conscious parent can still shop for the quality of name brand clothing at stores such as The Burlington Coat factory and T.J. Max. We can all shop for brand name clothing and become fashionistas just like the advertisers tell us.
Brand name clothing does not make the person more sophisticated or educated. Let's be real. In our society the brand name clothes seem to impress others and unfortunately in some circles, the brand name clothes do make the person. You can test this theory; if you show up for an important interview in clothing that is not name brand. Sad to say, appearance does matter. The extra money you might spend on a suit just might land you that job. So, if you can, dress to impress.

Clothing has become a means to develop our status on the rung to success. The need to purchase brand name clothing ranks high on our priority list. Thousands of dollars are spent by individuals trying to keep pace with the upward moving trend setters. But is this desire to dress in the latest fashions worth the cost? In order to answer that question let us look back a few years.
The mother of twelve spent her time repairing worn clothing for her children during the depression. She magically changed a worn pair of her sons pants into a skirt for her young daughter. The daughter was grateful for the new skirt. You see, the children in the family each had one set of clothing to wear all week to school. All the students in the school were in the same boat so there was no competition to dress better. There was no expectation to buy anything new, let alone a brand name fashion. When asked in later years how the family managed on such a meager income, the children laughed and said, "We had food to eat and clothes to wear, what else could we ask for?" Oh, how times have changed.
From designer gowns on the red carpet to the brand name clothing in high school, clothing has become an opportunity to make a statement instead of a means to cover ourselves. We become so eager to prove our fiscal solvency by the clothes that we wear that we overlook the becoming more honorable in our dealings with our fellowmen and stronger of character.
Did our depression era predecessors lack anything of real value? They struggled to be sure, but they valued family and true friends, a lasting commodity in any generation. They knew how to work hard and appreciate what they had. Are brand name clothes more valuable than these great assets?
The money saved in avoided the fashion trap could be well spent in helping those less fortunate. How much good could we do if we change our attitudes about fashion. We could buy our clothes of the rack at a discount store and save ourselves the agony of focusing on the outward appearance. Our lives would be less hectic and more fulfilling.
The brand name clothing that costs so much doesn't last any longer than other clothing. It lacks any real value other than the name that we have arbitrarily placed a value on. The designer clothing is not worth the money that we spend for it.
