Is it wrong to be rich?
It is always better to be rich rather than poor. The reason is simple; to have is better than to lack. We all want our daily needs met. It is human nature and there is nothing wrong with it. It is not selfishness at all.
On the other hand it is wrong to say poor is better than rich simply because it is not the truth; it has become false humility. I mean the person who says it is better to be poor has created in his mind a picture that to have much money is wrong based on the selfishness of man kind. Many of us simply want to use or spend money to fulfill our own desires. And this kind of riches may very well be wrong based on the fact that we are often doing harm to other people with such a lifestyle. Freedom must be governed by responsibility at all times.
To have money; to have lots of it is not wrong and it never will be. But money is a tool either for good or for bad. How we use the money is what is of great importance here. When I say that it is always better to be rich rather than poor it is based on my belief that lacking leads to crime. For example; when a man is hungry and has no money he can either beg for bread or steal from someone else, and that is not what common people want to spend their life doing. Nobody wants to be a thief or a beggar. It is humiliating to be caught stealing and there is a penalty to pay. To beg is also humiliating for the human nature. To be poor and to lack is therefore a bad thing and I do not believe for one single minute that it can be justified that poor is better than rich.
To have money or to be rich is of great value since there are so many things we can do when we have it. We can be such a blessing to those around us. We can bless our families, school mates, co-workers and even those far off who are in need: those that beg for bread and are sick. Money is not an evil thing, but as the holy bible puts it "the love of money is the root of all evil". It is the love of money that can make it a bad thing to be rich. That love of money will lead people to do the wrong things. The love of money will make a person go to desperate lengths to reach his or her goal; this includes committing a crime, for example tax fraud, drug dealing among others.
But as said previously, money in itself is not evil or bad in any way, but the person behind the money controls what it is being used for, and in that way being rich can be a good thing as well as a bad thing.
The conclusion is that being rich will always be better than being poor; it is respect less of race, culture, interests etc.
To end with I want to underline the point that when someone thinks that it is better to be poor rather than rich, it is based on false information or false thinking where ever it may come from. The problem is not riches, but the way it got into your hands in the first place. If you cheaten or stole to get the riches, then it is a bad thing. But to actually be able to bless others and do good simply can not be wrong, unless love has been lost in this world.

Most people right off the bat would say that being rich is better than being poor. Most of us have never gotten to feel what it's like to have the kind of money that we can go do and have basically anything we want. Have you ever heard of the stories people always say about others that run into a lot of money, such as the lottery. Many people believe that having that kind of money will change someone no matter what they're like before the event.
Sadly, most of the time people's assumptions are true. A lot of times people that run into that kind of money go buying everything they want and not having to worry about any of the money issues they have had before. Well, there are also the handfuls of people that run into money and use it smartly, and just help make their lives easier.
Even though people could be rich and not be too stuck up, or not appreciate anything, I believe that not having such money is better. In life, many rich people never get to completely appreciate everything they have. I know, even though I don't have a lot, I'm not completely thankful for everything I have myself and I'm far from rich. People who are truly poor are happy to have the food and drink to keep them alive. They're happy to have the clothes on their backs and a place to stay. People like this work every day just to stay alive and every day they're thankful to even be there.
It's people like that, that deserve to run into a lot of money and become rich. They are probably the only people that could have that kind of money, and appreciate everything they get with it. I think everybody should be thankful for what they have, and be thankful for the people who help provide it to them.
In my opinion, it's kids who are the worst in not being thankful for all the stuff they have. Though I'm not saying all are guilty of this, many kids don't know how hard it is for parents to provide for their kids. There are few kids that I know of, that actually got to work and see what kind of troubles parents put up with, and how much they put aside to provide for their kids out of pure love for them.
These are a few reasons I believe it's better to be poor. I would rather not have the money to buy everything I dream of, or do everything I ever wanted but at least I get to appreciate what I have. I'm also happy to be able to be thankful to the people that help provide for me, like my mother, father, stepfather, and god. They help me get everything I need every day and without them I would be lost.
