My first impulse was to vote no on this question, as I've become quite fed up with the way the younger generation has seemed to slack off when it comes to responsibility. Then, after thinking about how I was when I was growing up, with the resultant pressures, my opinion changed.

This is a tough, tough time to be a young adult! Name the conditions of the state of the world we live in, and the younger generation is facing a hard road ahead of them. The economy is the worst since the great depression, social security is in the hopper and might be cut if it's still around by the time they are ready to retire, terrorism is rampant, etc.,etc.,etc. I certainly wouldn't want to be growing up today, and my heart goes out to the younger generation.

If one zeroes in on some of the interaction with the younger generation, such as dealing with them where most of them work, such as McDonald's for instance, I've been impressed with the amount of respect shown to the senior set. And not just the seniors, as I'm a senior and am using that as an example, but with the general public. Some would say,"Oh, management is telling them to do this, or talk this way", but I can see true feelings and a humbleness that I wished I possessed at that age! I always keep in mind how difficult it is to be growing up today, and I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Can the younger generation face the awesome responsibility to take over the reigns of running this country? Well, let's take a look at the military as an example. Most of the military is populated with the younger generation, and I for one think they're doing a fine job. I certainly wouldn't want to be facing a "faceless" enemy, or travel down a road with potential bombs going off. Fighting a war where the enemy can be clearly defined seems to be a lot easier, but of course war is hell no matter what the enemy looks or doesn't look like. Again, the younger generation has taken the responsibility on, and have done stunningly well!

Maybe responsibility is just a relative thing, whether one is young or old. Seniors face a deteriorating nest egg, as well as housing values, but the young are just trying to get into the game by getting a job first and foremost. Which would you rather face? Personally, I know what it is like to be out of work and to knock on a ton of doors, just to get the same old response, either one is not qualified, or is over-qualified. But to face a job market that is as tight as a steel trap is another thing altogether.

Yes, the younger generation has a lot of room for improvement, but I think they're up to the challenge, and they need our support and encouragement above all else.

In the United Kingdom the younger generation has no concept of what their responsibilities are when entering a relationship. This unfortunately is due to poor upbringing. Not all of the younger generation are naive about what a relationship entails but a good 90% have no clue whatsoever. Most young people are now being brought up by a single parent and because of this they cannot see how two people interact in a relationship, or the responsibilities that both adults must take on to support one another.

Children in the United Kingdom are learning about sex too early in life, a child should not be taught about sex at the age of 11. With one of the highest statistic in underage pregnancy throughout the world people can blatantly see that the younger generation is not taking their responsibilities seriously.

Also the United Kingdom has the highest percentage of single mothers, is that a coincidence? Or are the men in the relationships running from their responsibilities.

Most countries and cultures say that it is the mans responsibility to look after the family financially, but due to the women's movement either partner or even both will go out to work and further their career. This can lead to neglect of a child if they have one or it can lead to neglect of each other.

This is more often the case as both members of the relationships are totally focused on their jobs that they forget to spend time with each other, therefore their relationship will crumble.

Old fashioned values that were once so important to people have faded away, because people don't have any stability in their lives. How are the younger generation meant to know what the responsibilities are when entering a relationship when they have never witnessed a stable relationship themselves?

How are they planning to teach their children about relationships and the responsibilities that they will need to take up, when they have no knowledge of it themselves? A single parent takes all of the responsibility onto themselves. In most relationships that have two parents they are able to solve the problems of the household together.

Discussion is a main part of any relationship and most people are selfish whenever it comes to another persons feeling about a subject. The younger generation needs to stop and listen to what people around them are saying rather than believing that they know better.

Looking after your partners well-being is a main responsibility that both members of the relationship should take up, also looking after the children is the responsibility of the two people that decided to bring them into the world, it's time people started acknowledging that.
