Whether or not there really is a war on Christmas, I would like to first say that Bill O'Reilly is doing this for ratings. No matter who it is or what the issue may be, if it is on television it is for ratings. There is not a single network or producer out there that says I don't care if nobody is watching this at all. The point of television is to get people to watch whatever it is that you are putting on there.

With that now said, I would like to support the reason that I believe that the war on Christmas is a complete fabrication of the conservative media. Don't get me wrong here, I'm a republican and a christian but what's fair is fair Bill.

Corporations in today's world are just unwilling to part with non-christian money for the sake of Santa and the birth of Christ. Aside from that, Christ wasn't even born in December anyways. His birth is only celebrated in December to coincide with the winter solstice that was celebrated by pagan converts to make the transition easier for them to except.

Christians decided that it didn't matter if Christs birthday was actually celebrated when he was born, if it meant that they could convert more people by celebrating it at a time that pagans where already celebrating something else.

Another example of Christians doing this exact same type of thing is the Celtic crosses. Pagans drew ornate rings onto trees and prayed to them. Christians carved a cross over and through these rings and deemed it fitting enough that they said the same prayers with the cross inside the rings on a tree.

They were converted praise be to Jesus. The only thing in their minds that had changed was one more symbol on a tree. Their worship did not change nor did their prayers.

I am a true believer myself in the wonders of God and my lord Jesus Christ but there must be separation of church and state. Corporate America has already figured out that by just saying happy holidays instead of merry Christmas, you get everyones money instead of just Christian money. I don't see anything wrong with that to be honest.

America is the home of freedom of religion and I think by keeping religious holidays on the back burner, we can focus on things that we all have problems with like this economy. That is the real issue that needs to be pursued not an imaginary war on Christmas.

If the question is, 'Does Bill O'Reilly believe that there is a war on Christmas', then, I would have to say yes. Love him or hate him, most people would agree that he is a man of faith and conviction. However, this Christmas skirmish is only part of a bigger war that has been going on for several decades, and growing to ridiculous proportions.

Is he using this phrase to boost his ratings? No. He doesn't need too. He is already the top rated show and has been in that spot for the last seven years. He doesn't need to add any more controversies to report on. He has had plenty in the last few months.

The war on virtually everything traditional, patriotic, or religious, has been coming on for quite a while. We are urged not to identify ourselves as a Christian nation. We are cautioned not to have public prayer anywhere but in our Churches, and, in some areas, not to display the Cross.

Discrimination is bad in any sense of the word, to any group of people, race, or religion. As Christians, we have sympathized with others for being in that position throughout the years, condemned it, and fought it. Now, we are in the same position.

Suddenly, after nearly ninety years, a Cross on a hill honoring those who died in WW I is something that is unbearable to look at, an affront to society, and, a disgrace to the country.

Music teachers will have to scramble to come up with new songs for their Christmas (Holiday) pageants, and, new crafts that don't include angels or stars. December school programs will no longer have children dressed as wise men and shepherds.

So, It seems only natural that at this time of year, the battle would heat up. We are told that Christmas things have become Holiday things. In some schools, and, in some towns, even red and green decorations are banned. Nativities are relegated to Church and private yards, if your neighbors don't complain.

Clerks are cautioned not to say, Merry Christmas, because it might offend someone.

The irony is that people of faith, any faith, are not the ones offended. Most people of faith hold the highest regard for their neighbor's beliefs and respect them. The culprits are those who have no convictions other than to try and convince others not to have any either.

In their so-called, 'politically correct' frenzy, they have decided, in all their infinite wisdom that the majority has no say. They have decided that the traditions of hundreds of years do not matter.

Merry Christmas
