Women, children, and stress: Should today's working women have children?

Since the beginning of time, there have been women working. Women have worked to help feed their children when the husband was not able to support them sufficiently. This has always been the main reason a woman would work.

Most women entered the work force because it was a necessity. Their ability to balance work, home, and children has and is still not easy. Stress is not something new to the situation. Should today's working women have children? What has changed since the beginning of time?

Why is it more stressful for a woman to work and raise children today? One difference is that women today have more stressful jobs. The woman's attitude has changed and her ideals of what her role in the family should be. With the professional positions comes a more superior attitude. The want of more money and personal possessions have become priority.

When a woman chooses to become a professional she makes the choice freely. The decision to choose a profession above having children it is a personal choice.

If a woman feels that she can handle the stress of her job and have a family, then again, it is a personal choice. There are many women who are able to handle their jobs, children, and the stress that comes with it.

For some, there isn't really a problem. The attitude of the woman is what makes a situation work. When you say to yourself, God, do I have to go home, cook, and take care of the kids? then it becomes a problem. This person should not have had kids.

There are those that do not give a second thought to the work facing them at home. It is good to be away from work. Being home with the kids is a welcome relief. This is the attitude that a working woman should have. With this attitude, things will fall neatly in place without a second thought and very little stress.

Most women feel that having a family and children are a completion to their success as a professional and being a woman. This gives them a feeling that they have really accomplished something.

Work is work, and it should be left at work. It is difficult sometimes to separate the two, but it is possible. We make our life what it is. If it is stressful, it is because you allow it to be stressful. Trying to do too many things can add unnecessary stress.

Does this mean a working woman should not have children? No, this simply means that some things need to be cut from your To do list. Do the kids really need to be in so many after school activities? Can some of the chores around the house be distributed among the older children and the husband? Can the older children help the younger ones with homework?

All of these things can help reduce the chaos of the evening after work. There is nothing wrong with others in the household helping with the daily chores. This is not to say that the woman shouldn't do anything, but everyone should do their equal share. This is why it is called a Family.

Having children are a blessing. There is nothing that can replace the happiness that they can bring. It is sad to think that anyone would choose a career over a family. All the monetary and personal possessions achieved will not give you joy as you grow older.

Should today's working women have children? There is no reason why they shouldn't, other than their own personal preference.
