Yes pets should be given people names because in doing so you are allowing them to take a humanistic role in your family. They can be acting just like your little brother Fredrick did before grade school and that will allow you to be more friendly with your new pet.
Although it may sound outrageous to look at your pets in a human form actors and actresses have been relying on animals to get properly into character for years. What they generally do off stage right before any rehearsal or performance is a form of yoga. That way their muscles can be stretched while they visualize whatever animal acts just the way their character is supposed to on stage.
If the actor is playing an outlaw cowboy gunfighter he will usually visualize some fierce animal like a lion or tiger. That way his whole body reacts physically in a bar room gunfight just like a lion body does prior to any fierce fight in the woods. The actor is even able to speak the script with that same amount of fierceness. It makes the whole performance look more convincing.
Even though your pet German Shepard isn't some potential star in Hollywood he has a very important role to fill in your back yard. It will allow you to feel like the house is really safe if you name that dog after someone who is renowned for his fierceness in some place like the boxing ring or got famous for some other fierce action.
It will even help you act more lovingly to the new kitten when you give her the sane name of some young woman who is so beautiful she has become world famous. famous. That can make you feel like your life is more romantic as you pet that beautiful girl as she sits on your lap while the TV is playing.
That just leaves your pet bird with a dual option. You could name it after some World Wart One pilot who is famous for all the enemy fighters he shot down or you could name it after one of the first astronauts that set foot on the Moon. The options reflect naming that bird after a fierce fighter of the past or some deep space explorer in the future. Figuring out what kind of character some bird could play in your living room is a lot tougher than doing so for your dogs and cats.
It can only be assumed that the proper human name used for your new pet should be one of some person that acted in life just like the type of animal you have adopted does naturally. You could then name the iguana after someone like the woman that taught art back in high school.
