A few extra bucks for a nice pair of designer shoes? Why not?

Designer shoes are more expensive than the average shoes, normally, because of the materials and the method used to make them. The manufacturing and quality of expensive shoes involves harder work and care, among other things. They might be handcrafted, and this is definitely costly for companies. This subject has to be viewed from different standpoints because, just like beauty, the choice of shoes is a matter of personal choice. I personally have paid extra money for more expensive shoes and occasionally it has been worth it.

Designer shoes are simply gorgeous. Some people go on saying that it doesn’t matter how they look as long as they protect the feet. I can agree with that statement to some extent because the use of shoes was primarily meant to be for foot protection. But to me, good looks are just as important when it comes to shoes. Its elegance is, in fact, the first thing that catches my eye when scanning any shoes store. Ironically, I also tend to automatically go for the expensive ones without even looking at their price. The bottom line is that authentic beautiful shoes have a price, and it’s high.

Wouldn't you, ladies (and gentlemen) agree that designer shoes can look, and even make you feel, incredibly sexy? I feel like a goddess when I wear designer shoes, especially high heels. They are just so gracefully made, so smooth. When you look at them,  your ankles and legs look like those of a model on the runway. Not that all models on the runway are necessarily sexy, but when they’re walking with such style on their high heels…it’s so alluring. You just wish you had a pair. They just give your feet a better look, a better feel. In the eyes of a person with no fashion sense, this goes completely unnoticed though. It'd make no sense. But there is no comparison. Cheap shoes are not as beautiful. I can tell you that the difference is clear and it’s worth every penny.

This might not be the case for some people, but for me designer shoes seem to always feel a little more comfortable than the inexpensive ones. The shape, the fabric, and the cushion inside are just different. And it feels different. Of course there is the chance that one day I buy a pair of designer shoes and they are awfully uncomfortable, but for the most part my feet feel great. For comfort's sake, they are worth the extra money.

Now, do they last? Not always, although it depends how you treat them. The fact that designer shoes are more expensive doesn’t automatically make them better than non-designer shoes. I have had my share of good and bad experiences with different types of shoes and I can say that, unless they are walking shoes, walking around on rough roads with your brand new expensive shoes is probably not the best idea. I learned this the hard way. Those were the only moments when I regretted paying extra for shoes. The fabric on the heel of a few pair of shoes got damaged easily when walking only for a few minutes. With another pair of expensive shoes, the strap broke the same day I got them. That was quite frustrating. Despite the cheap shoes beating the expensive shoes on this battle, I could still not wear cheap shoes at my hangout place that night. Unfortunately, in this society, what you wear says a lot about who you are.

It is clear that opinions on this subject will differ. If you are not a fashionista, and your main concern when selecting your clothing is price rather than style, then chances are you are not paying an extra penny for designer shoes. Some of us see it differently; there’s nothing more delightful to the eye than when passing by a shopping window and seeing a nice pair of shiny stylish shoes. We don’t see comfort or durability. We are blinded by its beauty, and we want them whatever the price.

Designer shoes and those with a price tag marked higher than the cost of my entire wardrobe are not worth paying the excessive amount of money. That does not mean that these shoes are not well-designed or not well-crafted, it just means that hundreds and thousands of dollars should not be spent on something we wear with a few outfits or a few times a month.

This does not mean that we should be cheap when choosing what to put on our feet. It is important to buy quality shoes that offer comfort and support for our precious feet. After all, our feet bear each step that we take and carry our body throughout the day so they deserve some attention!

Comfortable, well-crafted, and well-designed shoes can be found in name brands and designer labels at discounted prices. Great shoes can be found at bargain prices without having to fight your wallet for the extra cash. Designer shoes can be found brand new at discounted prices on eBay, in shoe stores on-line, and even in the very department stores and boutiques where they start off at full price. Many of these shoes will go on sale and even on clearance during the same season they came out. If you want to look high fashion without paying the price, this would definitely make the designer and expensive shoes more worth it.

Designer and expensive shoes do have one feature that can't be argued: they look expensive. If one is looking to weigh the balance of cost and worth when it comes to "looking" expensive, one may be willing to hand over a chunk of cash to look just a little bit more high fashion. If this is the case, maybe one should ask themselves, "Am I buying these shoes for me, or for everyone else?" A shoe should be purchased because you love it, it makes you feel good, even AFTER you get back from the department store, and after you have worn the shoe many times, you still feel great about yourself and the shoes you purchased.

So is it worth it to pay extra dollars to wear something that may not be very comfortable and is many times worn just to show off status to others? I say, pamper your feet, not everyone else's eyes. You will be able to show your status and confidence through how you act and how proud you are to be yourself, rather than by the type of shoe you are wearing.
