Vegas Strip

As a third generation Las Vegan, I'm often asked to give Vegas bachelor party advice.
My first piece of advice is this: You have your whole life to screw up your marriage, why do it before it begins? The goal is to have a fun but recoverable bachelor party. - Right? Okay so here is the skinny on a great Vegas bachelor party.
Plan your party at least two weeks before the wedding. This will give you time to heal that black eye, recover from the sunburn, get rid of the disease, etc ... I recommend a trusted older male to supervise and maintain control - this person is not meant to be a spoiler, but a limiter. Preferably a good brother-in-law, your father or a very cool headed father-in-law. He is the ultimate law enforcer. All must respect his "Authoritay .." This will also calm the frazzled nerves of your beautiful bride. Do NOT hire an escort or stripper to come to your room. It never goes well. If you want that sort of entertainment go to a strip club. It will cost a whole lot less money for a lot more entertainment. Have something more planned than just a stripper. I recommend a
poker tournament. It is fairly inexpensive, it provides about 2 to 3 hours of entertainment and who knows you could win some big money. Stay away from slot machines. Do NOT drink and drive in Vegas. The
DUI laws are strictly enforced. A good idea is to rent a van so that designated driver can take you bums in one vehicle. There is no humidity in Las Vegas and you will become dehydrated. Plan on drinking at least four 8oz bottles of water a day. I would drink at least 6 bottles of water before you start drinking alcohol. Do not hire a prostitute. Prostitution is not legal in Las Vegas or
Clark County. You will probably get rolled - if you're lucky. Also many prostitutes are guys in disguise. If you must engage in this activity then go to
Pahrump where it is legal and the girls are tested. It will cost quite a bit of more and will probably make your future bride angry. Do NOT bring anyone back to your room. Your room is your sanctuary - safe zone. The person who wants to go back to your room probably just wants to rob you, cut your throat and leave you to bleed out in the bathtub. Do NOT get separated from your group. Stay with the team. Watch your drink. Have a meet up place the morning after the BIG event. I suggest a breakfast buffet at your hotel around 10:30 am. That way you can find anyone who is missing. Also, it encourages your friends to end the party before 4 in the morning. Watch your wallet - keep it in your front pocket. Video poker is the best type of slot machine to play. Try to find
IGT's Optimum poker. It has a pay rate of 99 percent. Figure on spending about 50 to 75 bucks an hour playing slot machines. If you don't know how to play a hand in blackjack, ask the dealer. They'll tell you optimal strategy. Follow the rules when gambling, the security guys don't like rule breakers.
Big Wheel, Flip-It and
Let It Ride are some of the worst odd games in the casino. Don't try to pretend you're a poker pro when you're not. The sharks can sniff the fresh blood a mile away. If it is a slow night, tell the poker room manger you're a noob and he will find a shark-free table for you to play at. If you're going to gamble, get a player's card and start getting rated. You can get all kinds of free things with just a little bit of play. However, unless you're a big fish (2k a hand) then don't bother getting rated at the
Venetian, Mirage, Belagio, MGM, Mandalay Bay, Palms, or the Hilton.
The Golden Nugget,
Wynn, Paris, Tropicana, Sam's Town,
Gold Coast and the Orleans are good places to get a card no matter what your play is. If you're in Vegas on a Monday night, then I recommend going to the
Hush Puppy for all-you-can-eat crab. There is nothing like it in Vegas. The Hush Puppy is out of the way and you should arrive early - the place is always packed
Gardunos in the Palms Casino has great Mexican food and at a good price. The
Peppermill is an old time Vegas restaurant on the strip - good food Here's a little Vegas secret .. If you go to the
Egg & I around 10:30 AM you can usually catch all the strippers and dancers having breakfast before rehearsal. When booking a room ask for the casino rate .. usually 20 bucks cheaper. If you have to go to the hospital ... ask to go to Sunrise not UMC. Stay away from areas north of Downtown, around the Stratosphere, or near Henderson. If you end up in jail, remember that all phone conversations and personal conversations that are not with your lawyer are recorded. Also, respect your right to remain silent. You're going to need at least $60 a day for food and drinks. What happens in Vegas gets on the Internet.
Hope this helps. Feel free to send me an email with any questions and good luck.

New York City and Las Vegas. Two cities that are both the same and yet totally different. In New York there is many things to be entertained by: shopping, shows, the possibility of being on TV, and not to mention museums and landmarks. What is there in Las Vegas? Sure there are shows. Plenty of them. However also in Las Vegas there is hotels and casinos. Casinos may be entertaining but will they provide the experience of a lifetime? No, they won't. All they'll provide is a chance for all your hard-work-for money to go down the drain. Entertaining yes, logical no. But so many legendary performers have been in Vegas. This might be the reason you're willing to go there. However, that doesn't mean New York hasn't had it's fair share of legendary performers. After all, it is the place we all turn to when we're ringing in the new year!
Broadway. Upon hearing this you instantly think of all the shows that have played there such as Mary Poppins, West Side Story, Rent, The Lion King, and several others. Las Vegas may provide the chance to see these shows, but it's not the same. It's not Broadway. New York also has The Radio City Music Hall where the Rockettes perform and other musical talents. Think about it: Radio City Music Hall. The Rockettes have been performing since 1933. That's a lot of history there! That's a lot of people who have sung or danced on the stage and who have walked those halls. It's a place many people can recognize. Where are the Rockette's dancing? Where do you think? The Radio City Music Hall.
Among all these once-in-a-lifetime shows is something else that many people might go to New York for. The shopping. In this once city there is a Toys R Us so large that a ferris wheel can fit inside it. Also this is the home to FAO Schwartz, a famous name with all the toy stores out there. When visiting this city you can find that a visit to the toy store is just what your heart desires. Either that, or the hearts of your children. There is also the stores found on Sax Fifth Avenue where you can find expensive attire, but beautiful attire that that. When you watch shows like "What Not To Wear" they head, not to Las Vegas where gamblers go to, but to New York where they know they can get good clothes for a great deal. The "I *heart* NY" tee shirts also originated here and is something that many people buy when they go to New York.
Some national landmarks also make their home in NYC. Need some examples? The Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Ground Zero/the Twin Towers, the Empire State Building, The Museum of Natural History, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and countless others of landmarks that are in New York City. When you see them, automatically you know where they are.
Not only can you find more entertainment on the Broadway strip in NYC, but you can find other entertainment while your visiting the famous city. Las Vegas doesn't stand a chance.
