College Education is a great investment. Not just for jobs but to be educated. To be able to understand what happens in our world. The benefit in getting educated is great. So many opportunities arise and we have a better chance of getting a job to help pay back any expenses we may have received through a loan if one was taken. If we get educated we may even have a better society today.
College is a great expense. No doubt. People today still end up working harder than they need to. Some may even go to full time work just to help pay for their education, which is necessary sometimes, because people just can't afford to go to college. Now if our government made education easier to pay for there would be more well educated college students today and we would probably have a better environment and a better society. We would probably have fewer problems with gangs and shootings. We would have more students staying busy with classes and homework. So education is good investment. If people just can't afford it, there are a lot of good programs that will help them get through their educational goals such as Financial Aid which has been very helpful for many students today. A great program for people who may have a learning disabilities is Vocational Rehab, which is a program that helps people who can't afford to buy books and supplies for their education. They are very helpful in that matter.
If the students work towards a goal or a dream, or in this case a degree, and educate themselves, it is pretty likely that it will happen. They just need to take the steps. This is another good reason college education is cost effective. The degree students work towards will help them a great deal, and may just get them a career in what they want to do with their lives. As we progress through our careers we eventually get to higher job titles and we move on to go even higher if we want to. As we progress in our careers, all the money that was paid towards receiving a college degree really pays off, and comes back to us plus some.
Even with the crises we are in today, education is a great investment, not just to find a fancy job title, but to be well educated. To be able to understand struggles and problems that we have today, to understand why we are in these struggles, we need more well educated people today. We need to understand technology. The most important subject is science. A good science degree would be the greatest investment to have. Any subject is good to have in our hand. So many opportunities open as education happens. If the person does not like one career then they can move to a different career and maybe get more education. Sure it is expensive, but think about the benefits. A good education is one of the best investments one person can make. Not just for jobs, but for our own benefit, and others.

Attending college is an important step on the road to adulthood. While it is the urging of most parents and high school teachers that students enter college after graduation, it may not be as cost effective as it was in the past. The thinking used to be that an education is the most valuable asset a person can have, but it can be difficult to pay for. In the long run, will the cost of education be repaid by the job that a person will get once they graduate? The truth is, in this economy, going to college can be a bigger risk than students originally thought. If for any reason college is not completed, the loans will still be owed.
Even if a student graduates, a job in their chosen field may not be available. It is a long shot at this time that a student will land a job before the loan bills start piling up. If I had to do it all over again, I would find a job and work hard and save my money before entering college. Take the time to really decide what I wanted to go to college for. Alternative education may turn out to be a much better option, such as a technical school or job training program. I know several people who have graduated in the past few years who are not employed in their chosen fields, in particular, the education and communication fields. Some were employed, but later let go due to company downsizing. Gone are the days of apprenticeship and hands on entry level employment. In the past, most employers looked for the most educated people to hire. Now that businesses are cutting costs and removing employees to save money, someone without a college degree may be the more economical employee. They will not demand the higher pay brackets that highly trained employees can, and most often, training can be done on the job and to the same degree of effectiveness that sitting in a classroom for four years provides.
I do not feel that a high school senior will know exactly what they want to do as a career. I feel it is important to be in the real world for some time, and to grow as a person through life experiences before settling on a career. I for one am not the same person I was when I graduated high school, and I know now that I would not be happy in the career I started going to college for. I do intend on entering college in the future, but when It does become more cost effective. For now, I make a living wage without a degree and feel fortunate that I even have a job as so many do not.
