In today's society, especially when it comes to a college education, there are ways and means to be able to keep the cost effective. Unfortunately, it is highly possible that in the very near future, it might be more difficult for people to apply for student loans and grants should monies and credit not be made readily available.
This writer feels that he was blessed when it was his time to attend college. His parents applied for bank loans, and he applied for college grants that assisted him in getting a great college education. However, for today's college students, student loans are going to be a bit more difficult to obtain and as mentioned earlier, credit may be tied up. So, this is when creativity comes into play. Students and their parents as well as the higher educational system in the United States will have to look toward other means.
When it comes to going to college, especially one that has dormitory living and the like, there is going to have to be a way to cut these costs. At this time, there is no real answer on how to do this, but this is just one area. Then, instead of the students when they get to college having to buy their own food and stock it up in their dorm rooms, to join the cafeteria plan like this writer did his first year.
One great way to make college effective is to offer more paid internships for students while they are attending college. Performing an internship while in college is a great way to learn more about the subject matter at hand, yet, when this writer went to college, the internship was for credits only. Then there is the job factor. Students can find ways to work on campus or at other jobs to subsidize their room and board for instance. This writer did this by working the front desk/security of his dormitory his senior year.
Still another possibility is through the military. Should college students want to join the military, they can most likely use their GI Bill to assist them with their college tuition. This will make life a bit less stressful upon graduation. Usually, there are times where a member of the military can get up to $30,000.00 to pay for their college tuition. With the high costs of college tuitions these days, this is just one option to make things cost effective.
A good college education is a must for those who are made for college. In other words, believe it or not, there are people out there where college is not the answer for them. At the same time, college has to be made cost effective so that more people will want to go or even return for even more education.

College education, every one has to have that, so say our elders and our parents. Around the world we have been brought up knowing that we have to pass through preparatory school, high school and to college to succeed in life. But is this really true?
Through my experience, the experiences of my loved ones, friends, neighbours, and our community at large I gained very contradicting information in regard to the issue of whether college education is cost effective or not.
In my opinion for the years that I have survived in this world I find it to be contrary to our belief system. I offer myself as an example. I am an Undergraduate, I hold I certificate and thus this goes to show that I already passed through the normal elementary education.
According to our society, I should be a successful young lady by now considering all the resources and time I allocated through my studies. But this is not the case. I have marketed myself in most strategies known to the career world, am hardworking and diligent, and I consider myself a success.
The problem is all this effort was to get a financially stable job so as to live my life and raise my family in a comfortable way. At this point I feel cheated because of the belief system that when you study hard to aspire and end up achieving this goal. That is, spending a lot of resources of which there is no at par or mark up return.
This goes to show that most people capitalize on college education from when their children are born, choosing what career could suit them in future. The resources are saved from that early time such that by the time they are through with high school the resources for the college are available. You can imagine if you are a parent after planning for that long then you find that your child is through with college and is not able to find a decent job that is well paying and has good working conditions with probably benefits and security
The cost involved is too high. This in essence touches on the actual hard cash implicated, time (which cannot really be quantified in terms of money), mental strain, community outlook and personal ambitions.
I would say people should be open minded such that they should consider college as an option not mandatory. Because at the end of the day not everyone's success lies on the certificate they hold but through wisdom, intelligence, perseverance, open-mindedness, focus and belief in one's own capabilities.
