Do anti-snoring pillows work? Before answering this question, it is suggested that anyone having a restricted breathing problem make an appointment with their doctor to get a sleep assessment check-up to determine why they are snoring, before they buy an anti-snoring pillow or any other sleeping devices to stop snoring. This will ensure that they do not have an airway obstruction or some other serious condition.
Research has shown that people who are using this type of pillow device claims that it does stop their snoring and it does assist them in getting a good night's sleep. A lot of people also say, "They worked well for them and it did stop their snoring for the night." Many of those people who have received relief, snored due to restricted breathing caused by having bad posture while they were sleeping. The anti-snoring pillow is a thin wedge that is placed under the shoulders and a raised rolled edge is placed under their neck. By placing this pillow in these positions, it allows the snorer's air passages to the throat to stay open and they get a good night's rest.
These anti-snoring pillows are available at any health store or any large pharmacy. There are some mattress and bedding shops that also carry them. Shop around and get the best quality and best price! It's best to take the advice to see your doctor before buying one of these pillows because you could possibly have a more serious problem and you'll be wasting your time and money by investing in it.
Many snoring problems are caused by obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). This is a serious condition which will interrupt sleeping patterns and cause a person to have episodes of upper airway collapse. OSA is different from regular snoring because it is a partial narrowing of the airways. This can cause vibration when the air passes over the softer parts of the throat during breathing. The narrowing in the airways can lead to a situation where no air at all can reach the lungs. If a sleeper cannot breathe, they wake up to be able to breathe again. As this happens there are severe disruptions in the person's sleep patterns and this can cause the person to be very tired the next day.
OSA is a condition that can be treated but the anti-snoring pillow is unlikely to help. If a person takes tests at a (sleep clinic) and it is determined the person has OSA, a cpap device may be recommended that will allow the airways to stay open.
After my research, I'll answer "yes" the anti-snoring pillow does work for those who are not suffering from some other serious disorder or OSA.
