Regular

Regular bacon is definitely going to have more of the flavor that bacon-lovers want. The texture of regular bacon is also usually better when using it as an ingredient in recipes.

Regular bacon has more fat which allows more of the flavor to come out when eaten alone and when it is mixed in with other foods. The fat in regular bacon also makes the cooking process of the bacon a little different. The bacon cooks faster and the fat allows for a few different types of textures such as soft, chewy, and crunchy. Bacon-lovers and fair-weather fans all have different preferences of how their bacon is cooked and prepared.

Because of the different ways the bacon is able to be cooked, this allows for regular bacon to be favored in other recipes. When regular bacon is used to wrap other foods while the bacon is still raw, the flavors and fats of the bacon seep into the other food better than turkey bacon, to give it a smoky, bacon flavor. Turkey bacon can also be used in this way, but less of the flavor is transfered since there is little fat in the turkey bacon. Regular bacon when used in salads and as a topping is crumbled more easily. The regular bacon can easily be crumbled into big chunks or small bits. Turkey bacon forms a slightly different shape when crumbled and is not as easy to crumble as a use in other foods.

Though regular bacon has it's advantages, that does not take away from the healthier aspect of turkey bacon. The flavor of turkey bacon is tasty enough to use as a healthy alternative for regular bacon. When cooked correctly, turkey bacon can be flavorful and add to a delicious breakfast or other meal. The secret to choosing turkey bacon that is the best tasting is by choosing the right variety of turkey bacon at the grocery store. There are many types of turkey bacon, different brands and flavors. Usually choosing one that resembles regular bacon the most is going to give you the best turkey bacon experience. Many varieties are hickory smoked or have other similar values to regular bacon.

When the fight of flavor is over and done with, regular bacon is most likely always going to be the winner. It is juicy, chewy, crunchy, and fills the mouth with just the right amount of meat and smoked flavor. Turkey bacon is good, but regular bacon tastes better.

Turkey

I believe the love for bacon goes back many more years than any of us could ever count and its taste is a sheer delightful flavor. There's nothing smells any better than frying bacon in the early morning hours. The smell arouses my stomach to desire a quick fix for the hunger I feel as I smell it floating through the air to my bedroom. Some of my earliest memories are of the smells, especially bacon frying, coming from the kitchen when I was but a small child. I may have had lots of sleep in my eyes and a desire to snuggle up in the covers and stay in bed but those fantastic bacon odors would arouse me to jump up and get ready to eat.

I love any food that is cooked with pork. It gives the food a totally different flavor and makes it finger licking good! I love bacon when it is cut a little on the thick side from a cured slab of pork and pan fried to a crisp brown color. It crumbles in my mouth and causes the saliva ducts to work over time and leave a great taste in the mouth. It's a taste of satisfaction and delight!

I've been asked many times which do I like better regular bacon or turkey bacon. I find turkey bacon to be as tasteful as bacon, but it is a totally different flavor for the taste buds. I love turkey as much as I do pork so either one satisfies me. My taste buds for turkey bacon grasps the same sort of good taste as does the bacon when it is fried and served "hot". If I had to choose one over the other I could not because I love both of them. Turkey has a different taste but it is delicious if it is cut on the thick side too and fried in a "hot" greased frying pan. When the turkey bacon is fried right, one might yield its taste as real bacon, I know I have been fooled several times.

Now, if you allow the turkey to get cold and serve it, it does have a bland taste similar to a piece of dried meat that you don't know what it is. Regular bacon is good if it is served cold or hot. This is about the only difference I have tasted in regular bacon versus turkey bacon. If your planning on trying the turkey bacon, please allow your greased frying pan to be hot and allow the turkey bacon to get crispy before serving. Always serve it "hot" and you'll find a most pleasant delicious taste much similar to bacon. You'll also find it is a lot more healthier for you than the "good ole fat." You'll not know if you like it unless you try it. I had often said, "No turkey bacon for me, and after having a serving fixed properly, I must say I love it!
