Obama has only been president for about six months, and the poor man has to clean up eight years worth of messy policies, end a pointless war, and try to stimulate an economy that has taken quite a beating.

True, he may not have fulfilled some of his promises, but he has done more good in less than six months than Bush has done in eight years! When I search for jobs now, I notice that there are more of them than there were in January. The jobs have slowly but surely been increasing, which is what we really need.

Some examples of the good he is doing:

As far as the tax situation is, I see no reason why the rich shouldn't pay more taxes as they are the ones with the means to do so. I make less than 45k. Anyone at that income level or above should pay more taxes because they are more than comfortable. Would it be fair if everyone was taxed the same? They may compain about the tax situation, but seriously, I don't understand why. I can drive a decent car and live in a two-bedroom house with less than 30k per year and that is quite comfortable. Anything over that is pretty well off compared to a lot of people.

As far as the health care situation goes, where I live it costs almost $200 a month for just a basic health insurance plan and no one can get medicaid very easliy, even if they are on SSI or SSD. I've also have close friends with no income that can't get food stamps or medicaid because our state is so lax about it. Something really needs to be done about this. Two hundred dollars a month is too much. God forbid something ever happens to me, because I can't afford health insurance and no one gets medicaid. People can't keep living like this, it isn't right. Kudos to President Obama for trying to do something about it.

Despite the controversy associated with abortion, I agree 100% that a woman should have choice. Some people cannot afford children and birth control sometimes fails, it should be a woman's choice what she wants to do and the government does not need to spend money regulating something that should be taken care of on a personal level. Morals are wonderful and the Christians may not believe in abortion but then, just don't get one if you don't believe in it. Its not right to take away someone's choice. I don't believe in getting an abortion and if I got pregnant I would definately give up my child for adoption, but that is my choice to make. Everyone should have that choice.

I think we just really need to wait and see more of what he is going to be doing. It hasn't been long enough to assume one way or the other. So far though, I would commend him for doing the very best he can at trying to fix a mess someone else made.

He has promised too much. It was obvious in his elections speech when the first thing he asked for was patience. He himself admitted that what he wants to accomplish may not happen in his four year term. Are we really surprised? If you are, then you bought the political speeches hook, line and sinker.

Do I think the economy will get better in the next four years? Yes, I think as long as the new President Elect does not screw things up he just has to sit back and wait. If you ask any economist, the economy always cycles back around. But if you listen closely now, the man who said he would stop spending, wants to put millions into helping those without jobs. I understand helping others, but where is he going to get the money that he promised not to spend?

Do I think he will protect us? I fear not. Dictators around the world only respect on thing. And that is strenght and courage, not one's intellect. McCain would have gained immediate respect from these men because of his vast service and his proven strength even under physical torture. I fear greatly what tests these Dictators will throw at our new President. I hope he is stronger than I believe. I hope he is ready. There are some people you just cannot talk to and I hope he realizes this.

Do I think he will fix our health care? No, that too is a vast problem that he knows is too hard to fix in only four years. And if his plan is to make our system a socialistic health care system, I hope he really exams Canada and it's failure in that area. Competition makes good doctors. My son needed surgery the day he was born. I shudder to think that if I lived in Canada I would have had no choice in which doctor was going to open up my child.

Overall, I think he promised too much and I think people expect too much. Every politician wants to win an election and people realize that sometimes they go overboard with their promises. But this election was unique. These promises were many and in a time when we have many problems it was not wise. Now he has to deliever, now the entire Democratic party has to deliever. If change does not happen, they have no one to blame but themselves.

I hope I am wrong about him. I hope this new President will make things better, but I fear he will not. Change is what he promised but not all change is good. In fact change by itself is not good. Just because you don't like the way our country is going it does not mean change is better. I am so sick of hearing the word change, just by itself. Change is not simply good, change is just change. Read the definition.
