Watching movies online is a novel experience, though real hardy movie fans may be disappointed by the experience. There are several reasons why a rental DVD is a better option, and from experience of both types of watching, and weighing up the disadvantages against the advantages, the obvious conclusion for the time being is that watching a rented DVD is the best option.
*Quality.
*Str eaming.
*Convenience.
*Format.
*Latest movies.
Quality.
The quality of online sites presentation of movies is hit and miss. What happens on sites like Watchmovies.net is that you are presented with a small player such as on U-Tube, and that the movie choice is limited for quality viewing, by what is on the site, rather than being able to rent a good movie from a DVD rental store. Concentrating on these movies is difficult at best because there is too much distraction from the items which also appear on the same page.
The quality of viewing is impaired by your Internet speed, to such an extent that it is hard to watch a whole movie without any kind of break or distraction, meaning that the overall quality of the experience is disappointing.
Stream ing.
The difference between watching a DVD in the privacy of your own home on a DVD player and watching one online is that the streaming of the movie means that often you have to wait for a section to load. This may be due to several causes, though the overall effect is the same. A DVD player doesn't have this problem.
Convenience.
With a DVD rented from a company, you can share a superb movie with friends. Not so on a computer screen where people have to have the distraction of keyboard and other accessories, that get in the way of the enjoyment. On a traditional television set, the rental DVD can be watched without any distraction, in your living room giving everyone a place of comfort where their view is not impaired or distracted by being on a desk environment. The limit of computer screens means that the display will always be inferior to that of a television which is meant to display movies and entertainment for everyone.
Format.
The format of a rented DVD allows you to play the scenes of your choice, and also to rewind to a place you want to watch over again. It's easy and convenient. The format of a rental DVD may also include extras which are not readily available on on-line viewing. My experience of watching movies online really did strengthen the advantages of watching DVD format against streamed movies, as the stability of image and quality of sound and image are better.
Latest movies.
The choice available on online sites is very limited. Most apologize in advance for problematic viewing and because of piracy problems do not actually show the latest movies available on DVD. DVD rental, on the other hand, is competitive and the availability of movies so vast as to hold your interest and be able to find something great to watch.
The overall experience of both types of viewing leaves me with no doubt that at the moment, DVD rental offers the best options. Perhaps one day connection speeds will be such as to allow good quality viewing, or there will be a means of producing better quality online than there is now, though for the moment, I have no doubt in my mind that nothing beats a great rental DVD. Put the DVD into the player and know that the picture will be great, the sound will not disappoint, and the evening will not be spoiled by disappointment to those you want to entertain.

Watching movies online is one of my favorite pass times. All movie downloads are just a click away and most are absolutely free to download. You never have to leave home to buy movies and you can even read reviews from others who have already downloaded the movie.
With high-speed internet these days, the download rates are incredibly fast and mostly take within 10-15 minutes to download large video files. This way you don't have to just stare at the computer screen for hours for one move to download. You can even download multiple movies at the same time, so you can have a choice.
The time it takes to load a movie is around 2-3 seconds. This can never be done on a DVD player. Imagine all the time that you could save by downloading movies. Gasoline prices have skyrocketed in the past few years and if the DVD store is miles away, then you are spending a lot more money than you think. On top of that an average trip to the DVD store takes at least half an hour, and you also need time to dress up properly. You cannot go to the DVD rental store in your underwear, but you can download movies sitting on a couch.
In addition to that, most online movies are free. Renting a DVD means that you have to return the DVD after a week or a month after watching it. But when you watch a movie online, you will have the movie on your computer at all times. Sometimes you might like to watch the old movies and instead of renting every time, you can simply watch the movies online anytime you feel like it. You can also browse through thousands of movies in a more systematic order.
Movies online are listed in an alphabetical order, making it much more easier to find the moves that you are looking for rather than wasting time finding the right movies. This way you can also find the old movies in a few seconds. Reviews are just a click away from each movie and the movie quality is also rated by the users. If the review rating is high then the movie is high in quality. This system ensures that you only buy the movies that are worth watching and provides you with the best quality movies only. When renting a DVD, sometimes the quality isn't as good and this is where online movies beat DVD rentals.
Watching trailers in a DVD rental store consumes a lot of time and most of the times only the latest movie trailers are running. Before downloading movies online you can watch the trailers which are usually on the same page. Not only that, but you can also watch trailers for movies which are decades old. Many people including me like watching old movies and for this online is the best place because it has such a huge selection and alphabetical order to systematically download and watch movies.
With movie folders and sub-folders, it is really easy to organize your online DVD section. At home, however DVDs take a lot of space to be stored and often get misplaces. If they are misplaced then you end up paying $20-$40 on top of the rental fees.
Personally, I cannot imagine anyone renting DVDs when you have the biggest DVD store right in your home. Start watching movies online now and I assure you that you won't regret it. With high-speed internet, supreme picture quality, trailers, reviews and a large library of DVDs, you will never miss any latest movies.
