From the mountains of Olympic Washington to the beaches of Orlando Florida, everyone that has traveled the United States knows just how diverse it is. Even traveling from the redwood forests of Northern California to the land of Hollywood in Southern California, even California on its own is more diverse than most foreign countries let alone all of the United States.Alaska should not be aloud to become its own country because its one of the many different parts of the United States that makes it what it is.
In terms of square miles, Alaska is the largest state in the United States, even with all of its oil which we all know is hard to come by these days, is still known for being one of the last two states admitted into the United States, and is not known as one of the 48 Continental states even though it is technically still attached to the continent.
With Alaskas oil plants, fishing revenue, military bases and amazing wildlife all over the state nobody could deny the uniqueness that Alaska has over all the other states. The only thing is every state, big and small, all have some things that make them different from every other state which is the great part about the United States. We are the United States of America, we can all be uniting together under the title of America but it when it comes right down to it, each state has its own history, its own culture and are just fifty United States coming together. Alaska has no right to move away from the rest of the United States than Rhode Island does. Alaska may be a little farther away than most states, and even its capital Juneau can only be accessed by plane and not by road only adds to its uniqueness.
If Alaska hypothetically did try to break away it would work out very well for Alaskans especially because approximately 60% of Alaska is owned by the United States government and still today in 2009 there are territorial disputes between the United States, Canada and Russia to what portions of land really belongs to who. Without the help of the United States. Alaska would likely lose a lot of territory under the pressure of bigger countries such as Canada and Alaska. Also, with the rising price of gas and uncertain economic times again without United States influence Russia would most likely come into Alaska to try and look for oil and natural gas to ease up the cost on Russia.
In the end, Alaska may be unique but it is unfit to be its own country and really has no significant reason to break away other than just to say i told you so.
