YES! YES! YES! I do believe that God grants blessings. I believe that blessings come from God through various methods, people, place, and things. According to Webster's dictionary a blessing is a special favor, mercy or benefit bestowed by God. In Deuteronomy 28:1-14 Moses is telling the Isrealites about God's blessings if they will, "harken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God." In verse 2 Moses tell the Isrealities that not only will God bless them but blessings will overtake them. The Isrealities had to obey the precepts that God had given them in order to receive His blessings. I do believe that God bless us today just as he did for the Isrealites if we are obedient and sometimes when we are not obedient to Him.
Yes there are examples in the Bible where individuals did not always follow through: David with Bathsheba (II Samuel 11th chapter), Samson and Delilah (Judges 16th chapter), Peter(Luke 22:54-62), and Paul on the road to Damascus (Acts 9th chapter) just to name a few. David had a strong desire to be with Bathsheba who was not his wife. He had her husband killed because he thought it would cover up their sin, yet he is considered as a friend of God,a man seeking God's heart. Samson had a selfish desire to be with someone who later tricked him out of his strength. But in the end God allowed him to show his strength by destroying a building. Peter lied about his association with Jesus. He is considered as part of the twelvefold foundation of the church. Paul the fearless persecutor of the church wrote several of the books of the Bible in the New Testament. David, Samson, Peter, and Paul were all blessed by God to fulfill His purpose. God knows that we are not perfect yet he still loves us and bless us.
God in His infinite power blesses whom He want to bless, when He want to bless them, where He want to bless them, and how He want to bless them. His blessings are wonderful and timely. Blessings bring happiness and peace. They restore love, relationhsips, and families. there are several types of blessings: spiritual, temporal, physical, financial, emotional, and social.
The ultimate blessing came from God through His son Jesus. We have the opportunity to live a life where we can offer up blessings to the blessor for his sacrifice. How can we bless God? Through praise, worship, meditation, prayer, and living according to the precepts in the Bible. When we bless God, God will bless us.
