IF IT WERE TRUE

Aliza Shvarts is an artist who made claims within the realm of art which were not true to make a statement about "the form and function of the female body". It has a bloody ring to it. Like abortion.

I wish I could see the value of her claims and how it helps women. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it not only de-values Ms. Shvarts, it wreaks of violence. And it incites dislike of the feminine population, most particularly artists and college students. Or does it?

Reportedly, Aliza Shvarts self impregnated via artificial insemination and then took various herbal remedies to induce abortions. That is what she claimed. A very bizarre set of statements meant to get the world rockin and rollin with attention to Aliza Shvarts? Why something so profound? Artists are profound. Some are more profound than others. Some are angry. Some get so sick of the narrow minded real world where victims are made every day and then called dogs.

Or is Aliza Shvarts a sick work of art, herself?

She made a radical scream, that's for sure. It was indeed shocking. It got her attention. But as an Artist? Or as a person in need of psychiatric help? Or is that really anyone's business?

Aliza, it is said, is Jew and an Ivy League college student. She once claimed to be a "fetus artist". A statement perhaps of feminine creativity in the womb and how feminine creativity can be aborted. A statement of control over one self by showing a purported lack of self control.

Aliza made a statement. A bold and strange statement. But I'm not sure what it means. Other than See Me, Hear Me. Feel Me.

Aliza makes me realize that there are going to be people who go to extremes. Extremes make us think. They make us realize that they exist. They show us that sometimes there are no boundaries. That sometimes, the human being is little more than a glorified animal. An animal playing in its own fecal matter, chewing on the placenta?

As human life becomes less glorified and more easy to waste, I can't get excited over Aliza or her latest artistic offering. It went beyond sardonic. Less surreal, it was like something you might find in a dingey alley in a big city. Maybe it was too real. Maybe that's why I'm yet to defend Aliza Shvarts.

Or maybe Aliza is a freaking genius painting an extreme scenario of just how bad we women can really get.

Whatever inspired her, I'm sure she will move on to bigger and better things. Very creative people sometimes do the darndest things. I'm in favor of forgetting it, allowing her to forget it and moving on.

I wish Aliza Schvarts all the best.
