Today on the Oprah Winfrey Show her guest was a transsexual named Thomas. Thomas is being touted as the first pregnant man in the world. Thomas, a woman at birth named Tracy who entered beauty pageants and from the photos that were shown on Oprah, Tracy was a beautiful young woman. The now Thomas explains his mothered committed suicide when Tracy was 12 years old, and her father being a workaholic was not around much during her teen years.

Thomas recounted his life until the time he decided to change genders. Now married to a woman named Nancy who has two grown children from a previous marriage and is not able to give birth. Nancy has a medical problem so she and Tomas decided that Thomas who kept his or her reproductive organs would carry the child. With one failed pregnancy that could have cost him his life, he is now 6 months along, and the pregnancy is going very well. The Oprah show was present at the ultra sound, which revealed the sex of the child to be a girl.

When I first heard the byline for Oprah's show, I was stunned. However, just a few minutes into the show I was thinking to myself how can we consider this person a man? Yes, he looks like a man, and Thomas revealed he grew a penis because of the testosterone he was taking. With all that in the open, does this make him the first pregnant man? If I had only seen the pictures, and heard the byline, I would have voted yes.

Watching the show, I found Thomas still had the reproductive organs he was born with. The testosterone Thomas is, or was taking changed his body chemistry, however does that give him the distinction of being the first pregnant man? I do not believe it should. However, the press is all over the story and with the help of their spin, this is what will be believed years from now.

I do not feel science had the right to help what the law recognizes as a man to become pregnant. I believe that right should have been given up when Tracy decided to become Thomas. She did not want to be a woman, yet he wants to have a child. Is it fair or right for a child who Nancy and Thomas bring into this world? My answer is absolutely not! When this child is born, it will be a media circus, and watching the media today it is very likely this child will be hounded throughout her life.

Is this right to call this person the first pregnant man, I say no. Is it right to have a child under these circumstances again I say no!
