Governments should regulate and take responsibility for the duties that government employees are paid an income to perform and not hire outside contractors.

Firstly it is more expensive to pay contractors as you see with the Black Hawk firm in Iraq hired as security police as the contract has cost billions of dollars if not more in the last 5 years.

Secondly, there is the matter of secrecy as evidenced in the Foreign Affairs office where everyone's passport information on file is open for contact workers to gain access to anyone's personal information.

Thirdly and most importantly contracting is usually delegated to foreign firms which is not producing jobs and employment for people here. The old adage
" You get what you pay for" works here since you have no actual control of what goes on in the electronic transfer of vital information or who may obtain access.

The US government must stop this type of activity as foreign firms are more aggressively lobbying the government for more and more work and already worth billions of dollars in wages is going off shore.

The method of choice is for the foreign firms to hire former employees of the branch of government they wish to obtain the work. In some cases government has no idea where this work is performed and by whom which is even a more insecure way of doing business.

Some foreign firms also disguise their front office company inside the US and appear to be American companies but they are not. This leads to legal complications where lawsuits are subject to jurisdictional problems if contracts are not honored or fulfilled.

Most often Call Centers are offshore and many companies are bringing them back to North America, due to the lack of service, language barriers, and just plain old its not working well with customer satisfaction.

Some more private information such as food stamp administrating is going on off shore and people wonder what isn't sent offshore these days.

The pattern of outsourcing is build on the premise that it saves money. How can sending jobs overseas save any money when people are jobless here? In the long run it costs more to outsource than its worth since jobless people become homeless people. The burden on social services, hospitals, and in general the well being of good working people is destroyed by outsourcing.

You only have to pick up the phone and call your local company and you will be directly transferred to someone in a foreign country that doesn't understand you.

For the sheer fact that customer service has become an anomaly and companies are indifferent to providing better quality customer service they are buying the cheap stuff. They are forgoing hiring people directly here in your neighborhood and city to help you with you telecommunications problems.

Governments should be leaders in hiring American workers and should not be allowed to outsource government jobs to other countries. There is just too much corruption in this method of human resources hiring and it is not good for the country.

The next government has to address this issue and cease to hire contractors to take away American jobs and has to set laws into practice before the economy worsens further.
