Not only is the Republican party broken, but they are hurting too. People who say they are Republicans act more like Democrats. The party has gotten weaker over the last 15 years. When John McCain was running for the Presidential office, he tried to distance himself from the Bush Administration policies. I believe that is one reason why he lost. McCain was running like an independent with the Republicans following close behind. He wanted to lose them, but he couldn't. I remember no matter how bad things got, the Republicans stuck together. The elected officials would point out the good things their party had done for the American voter. This was an example on how to test people's loyalty for their party. If President Bush's ratings were high, everyone would be embracing him. Now that his approval ratings are very low, everyone is running in the opposite direction. There is one good thing about the Democrats, they know how to party. There is one good thing about the Republicans, they know how to sit quietly and listen. One of the purposes of a two party system is so one party does not smear the other party's ideas. The system was never meant for the two parties to hold each other's hand. This was to minimize corruption so that the masses could have a fair say in the Democratic system. Where are we getting these ideas that all parties must work together to ensure a fair and just system? It is a lie. If you have all parties loving on each other, no one will be held accountable for anything, and the democratic system will be in trouble. This is what is going on today. Sure, it sounds nice. Everyone living together in harmony. Creating laws and passing laws in harmony. I say bull run to that! Not only are we deporting our jobs overseas, but our democratic system as well. Most people do not understand what freedom is all about. Not only is our monetary system in bankruptcy, but our morals are as well. We tilt our heads to the side and smile when we hear that Barack Obama wants to work with Democrats and Republicans peacefully. I got news for you, that is not the American way. Americans always fought for their freedoms. There is no such thing as quiet time. If the Republican party wants to survive, they need to get up and fight like real men. Why were the slaves running towards the North? Because they were hoping the Republican party could save them. President Lincoln was a Republican. Embrace him, embrace him not, embrace him, embrace him.......

In the 2008 Presidential election the Democrats selected Barack Obama who is more like a Socialist than a Democrat. The Republicans selected John McCain who is more like a Democrat than a Republican. Why were these men chosen? The Democrat party has drifted farther and farther to the left. They are now to the point where the leaders of the party are Socialists.
The Republicans are afraid of the main stream media and have consequently also drifted to the left. Neither the Democrat or Republican parties are broken but both need to be fixed.
The Republicans need to find new leaders in the party. Conservatism almost always wins in the United States. In the 1980's Ronald Reagan won two elections by landslides by standing by his conservative values. In the 1994 Congressional elections, the Republicans gained control of the House of Representatives by instituting the Contract With America which was based on conservative values.
Every election, all of the liberal candidates move more toward the center to try and get elected. Unfortunately many Americans don't pay close enough attention to politics to see what is happening and they vote many times for liberals who are disguised as moderates or conservatives.
The Republicans need to firmly stand on conservative principals such as smaller government, lower taxes, secure borders, strong defense and spending less. In today's climate the Republicans also need to announce that they are for English as the official language of the United States and marriage is between a man and a woman. It is sad that marriage has to be defined and our language has to be identified but with the way the United States has deteriorated over the past several years these stances must be taken.
While many liberals will yell and scream about most of these stances, a majority of Americans will support them. An article at http://www.mantecabu lletin.com/news/arch ive/5231/ written on July 9, 2009 stated that 40% of Americans consider themselves conservative and 21% consider themselves liberal.
You can also look at the proposition in California that was voted on to support homosexual marriage. The voters, in liberal California, voted against homosexual marriage. It took a judge to legislate from the bench to allow homosexuals to marry.
Since Ronald Reagan left office in 1988, the Republicans have not really had a good candidate to vote for, it has simply been a question of voting for the lesser evil. The Republican's need to wake up and put conservatives in leadership roles, then the American public will have a real choice in elections. The Republicans will put conservatives on the ballot and the Democrats will put liberals. I am betting that the conservatives will be to the liberals as 4 is to 3.
