Parents should absolutely not under any circumstances be allowed to use medical intervention in order to choose the sex of their baby. This would create many problems and it is against nature. Gender selection would be a slippery slope leading to a patch of genetically engineered babies. Just put in your order, "I want a blue-eyed blond haired boy." No thank you, what is wrong with the element of surprise people?

If people chose the gender of their babies, we could create an imbalance in the male vs female ratio. We might end up with a bunch of girls one year and boys the next or visa vesa. Different grade levels in schools could become more like an all-boy or all-girl class which would be plain weird in a public school. Worse yet we could get gender trends where everybody just wants only boys or only girls for awhile. Think about how hard clothes shopping for baby would be if everyone had the same gender- "Sorry boy stuff is sold out." Nature has a way of evening itself out and by playing God, you are definitely messing up nature's flow- that is not something I would recommend.

Also, choosing the sex of your baby takes away absolutely all the fun of the whole baby experience I beleive. For both of my pregancies, my husband and I decided not even to find out the sex of the babies. We did it the old fashioned way and waited until the baby was born to find out it's gender and you know what? We loved it. The birth of a baby is very special but not knowing the sex added a surprise at the end of a nine month wait. Think about it, you have the rest of your lives to know the sex of your baby, can't you leave some of it a mystery? It's not that hard to get neutral bedding or strollers.

Gender selection to me is immoral, unethical and just plain wrong. I hope it is never an option. We shouldn't be messing with nature, things are the way they are for a reason. I believe each baby has a purpose or destiny and to choose the gender alters who would've been born. Let things be as they are meant to, be happy enough if your baby is healthy. Let's keep science out of baby making and allow the birds and the bees more say. That is what I think.

Yes, I believe that parents should be able to choose the sex of the child that they want to have. I think that it a person right, with the new technology that is available for parents to pick if the want to have a boy or a girl. Many people argue that this will result in people having a lot of same sex children and over whelming the population with a certain sex. I also believe this is wrong. Different people have different views on what child they want to have. I know If I had the choice to pick, I would. I think it is a lot of people's fantasy to have a bot first then a girl. So, in way, the boy can protect his little sister. Not in anyway am I saying a girl could not do the same, I just know that I and many other people that I know wanted to have that million dollar family. A boy and a girl is what some consider to be the million dollar family. I also now that many people will argue that it is God's choice to pick what sex the child may be. But I argue that the recent medical advances are allowing people to be able to pick the sex of their child, and I feel the do have the right to do so if they choose fit. I do not believe that this will cause people to pick a lot of the same sex, but I look at it as a way of being able for a couple to plan out their family to their liking. Many things in this current day and age are all about convenience. With people being able to pick the sex of the children they want to have, brings a new meaning to this issue. I think it would be neat to be able to know what sex you were going to have. It would give parents a head start in their child's future in ways that were never thought about before. i can understand the other side of this issue where people could say that it is all about the surprise of what the child will be, and for some people, that is OK. I on the other hand would have like to have had a say in what type of sex I had wanted to have first. Being a mother of four children, I think this would have been a great way to plan my family and really wish I could have had the change to use this technology to help mold my family. I am however, happy with what I got and I got what I wanted. But if I did have the Chance, I would surley go for it. The choice is ours, I say go for it!
