PC

The money smart people know that PC's are much more profitable when talking about resale value. The truth is that used computers are not the hottest items to sale. Any pawn shop broker will tell you that the most computers pawned are PC's. This fact may seem unfortunate and a testament to MAC as a better computer but not really. Since, PC's sell more units more units will be pawned and also resold. This fact alone could seal the deal with which computer has better resale value. There are other factors that will further solidify the argument that PC's are more re-saleable than MAC's. Yes, this is an opinion but it is a really good argument for those in the market for used computers.

MAC may very well have a better working unit but when it comes to sheer numbers PC is king. The opinion of MAC users is that the unit is a better operating system. The negative to having a superior working machine (in theory) is that trying to sell a used unit is almost impossible. The problem comes when a person that wants to have a shiny new superior product chooses a used unit. The buyer would rather save and buy a new version of a superior unit (in theory) the buy a used less superior unit. The consumer figures why buy a used better computer when its better you buy it better. On the other hand PC users know that PC's are reliable and will continue to be massed produced, customizable, and cheap.

Other reasoning can be created by looking into the computer users. PC people are more likely to pawn a computer because of options. The money spent to buy a PC can be assessed as an investment over time. PC users see a computer as a tool than can be upgraded or changed to better suit the user. MAC users feel so faithful to the computer that the money spent to purchase reflects emotion instead of logic (so prices are unreasonable for logical people). A MAC leaves its user with a unit that is no different than any other unit. The pawn buyer wants to have something different not something similar to others units.

Keep in mind this argument has nothing to do with which system is better but which is a better resale. The bottom line is that pawn shops and resellers are looking for products that can easily be cleaned and customized for resale. PC's are by far an easier computing unit to make ready for resale and MAC's are just a hassle to resale at reasonable prices without consumers feeling cheated.
