Mac
Created on: January 23, 2011
In every functional way, the Mac computer surpasses the PC computer by multiplied miles.
The Mac is smooth in application of commands. The Mac is competent in the handling of multiple activities, concurrently with no apparent affect on speed of function. The Mac handles the protection of users from Internet " Trojan-attacks" to a superlative level over PC.
The musician can expect that the Mac will consistently produce excellent end-products efficiently and consistently. Smoothness of recording and excellence in rendering are the hallmark of the Mac.
However, Mac has a decided liability. When it comes to keeping pace with the software necessary to create the end-product, program producers are not creating Mac versions of the superlative products on which this writer has come to depend.
Though Mac does have music production software available, experience shows that the best software made for current personal and professional music project needs is Sony Acid. Even the Music Studio version of Sony Acid is well worth the investment, regarding smooth operations and ease of use as well as the ability to handle work-flow and production output.
The impasse between hardware and software function was palpable, until the discovery of Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac. Parallels Desktop 6 offers the function of any PC-formatted software inside the hardware of a Mac computer. This is done through the creation of a virtual PC computer, within the designation of 50 to 100 Gigabytes, (for example,) of the Mac computer's hard disk space.

Just a few simple steps can deflate a near hurricane of angst.
The Mac Boot Camp Assistant will assist in the designation of hard drive space to be used for reformatting for the PC operating system, such as XP, Vista, or Windows 7. (The usage of Windows OS inside the Mac hard drive is possible, without the usage of the Parallels Desktop 6 program, but the inherent liability of this approach is the requirement of restarting the computer each a different OS is needed. The beauty of Parallels is the fact that Mac and PC operating systems can run concurrently.)

As a new Mac user of less than six months time, Parallels Desktop 6, has saved sanity and has opened an entirely new world of music and other media productions.
Will the investment of time and energy result in music production create a working environment that returns greatly more than the initial investment? Without question,...the result will be well worth the investment.
