Not being judged is just like asking for World Peace. It is seems reasonable and would make living just that much better. However, let's face the facts, we all can't even stop judging ourselves. Why would we stop at judging others? Especially, when we even judge our family and friends. We love them and still have to judge.

Goth is no different that any other type of fashion trend. It all depends on where you fit socially. Sure it can be difficult for the lone soul in all black, leather, make-up and a long coat to fit into a scene with the businessmen and women of the corporate world. It would be just as difficult for the lone business suit-wearing individual to be at some underground club. What is the likelihood that this would be the situation? Not likely. Yes, yes. There is always the chance encounter down the street or in the supermarket, whatever it maybe. It doesn't really matter.

We judge "normal", we judge "abnormal", we judge "the fat", we judge "the thin", we judge pretty, we judge ugly, we judge, we judge, we judge. Why would we as a society stop to even consider not judging "Goth"? That is an easy one. They are different and not like me so they need to be judged by my standards. The world loves easy. The easier it is the better off we are. That's how we all evolved into what we are today. Faster, better and easier. That is what we want are lives to consist of. Like I said "Goth" is easy.

I believe in fashion we wear what is reflective of who we are on the inside. Sure there are times that this can be very misleading, do to environmental circumstances and emotional attachments. Fashion just like writing is an expression of art. Art that the soul is expressing outwardly as well. We all judge art differently and we all see beauty from very different vantage points. Our two eyes connected to our brains that have been shaped by our world. Consisting of family, friends, education, work place and social community. These all shape the way we see and react. Our writing or words all different. None worse than the other nor none better than the other. Just recognized and judged for expressing in a way that related to many.

Overall, if we could reach World Peace than for certain we could NOT judge "Goth" or anything else for that matter. However, until then I will have to go with the fact that this will not be happening today or tomorrow. We will go on judging ourselves and then judging others. I am a believer of all things possible. So, you just never know.

I am not a goth. However, I know that goth's and any other subculture are judged, criticized and in some instances victimised for the way that they dress. Yes, I think that people should have the right to wear what they please; and I think that other people should have the maturity to respect their rights of choice.

The gothic dress code is peculiar -nonetheless its no more peculiar than any of the other youth subcultures out there and I think that this intimidates people. After reading over some of the other arguments 'for and against' in this thread, I've seen various examples where the appearance of somebody dressing in the gothic fashion has been avoided by the general public maybe even frowned upon.

Yet I ask 'why does this happen?' - it shouldn't but it always will.

In the same fashion that nobody else should be judged for what they wear. Yes, this happens. People may argue that people are judged for wearing baseball caps, hooded jumpers, even glasses. All items of apparel make us the person that we are, and impact on the way that others are going to act towards us; who we are going to befriend, and who we are going to repel.

The first taste, is always with the eyes and apparently the first impression can change the way that one person thinks of another person forever.

I don't think it is the dress code that is judged sometimes I think its the attitude and personality of goths that people have in their stereotypical minds. I know many goths, and they are genuinely nice people some are not: this is the same with anyone, anywhere you go whether it be a different town, state, city, country people vary.

Everyday people are judged for the colour of their skin and unfortunately I doubt this is ever going to change; in the same fashion people are judged for what they wear and how they appear to people. It is a cruel world which we live in, and some people are very narrow minded all we can simply do is carry on with doing what we enjoy, and dressing how you want to dress.

However there is one change we can all make; and that is to not judge anybody back in return for the fact that they are judging you. Being as nice to anyone is the best thing that you can do, because then they are at least seeing you as a much more mature person than themselves in not doing so.
