Despite several media-satisfying displays, not only has Britney Spears never been a direct danger to her children, but she has also taken solid steps to maintain a level of motherhood that seems absolutely impossible for someone with her status in global entertainment.
Many global artists choose the convenience of a full-time personal daycare service that will attend to the kids while they are on tour, leaving the city, state, and even the country at times. Artists of the same caliber as Britney Spears have the type of schedule that forces them into doing that.
In her case, her kids have travelled with her every time she has left home for longer than a weekend. They have been seen backstage at most of her shows, and are currently preparing to take off with their mom on her upcoming "Circus" tour. In Britney's own words, "I can't wait to see what my babies will think of this tour... the [circus] theme is really fun, you can do a lot with it... I want them to see me do all kinds of cool tricks and say 'look! Mommy's a superhero!' ... and that just makes it all worth it." (MTV's 'Britney: On the Record' Special)
To put things in context; this is a person who cannot go get a cup of coffee without police intervention. Someone who hundreds of agencies would pay thousands of dollars to get a picture of, doing ANYthing. That unwanted abundance of attention causes chaos around her at any given time, one that cannot be escaped. And as much as aspiring artists dream of that, the idea that it cannot be switched off is just terrifying.
If you think about it, Britney Spears is an employee like all of us. She has management to satisfy, numbers to report, and expectations to meet. The problem is, we get to satisfy our one boss and go home. We're off the clock when we're off the clock. And STILL, we manage to complain about a bad day at work, added stress, and need our vacation time. For working moms among us, the stress of balancing a normal job and a family is big enough. Well, what if you can never get off work? What if you don't get a weekend, cannot clock out, and your vacation is as exciting as your own living room with guards all around?
It's almost like "a breakdown is in order" for a life like that. It's almost unhealthy to NOT process that level of stress somehow. Add a couple of failed relationships to this recipe, and you have the Britney the world got to see at the only time she was labeled an unfit mother.
Not only has she recovered from that moment of weakness (that she very well earned), she has also involved her father and close friends to attempt to regain her strength, and fought to prove that her stress was only temporary and should not jeopardize her time with her children.
The way I see it, we have a very sweet artist who just works too much. She delivers more of what her fans want, and the proof is in her sales and consistent domination in the entertainment world. She happens to be a mother as well, and loves her kids and tries to involve them in her lifestyle more than anyone else in her shoes. She spends birthdays and holidays with them, takes them on vacations, and even gets ideas for her shows from them.
If I can say anything to this lady in person, I would simply shake her hand and thank her for showing me that you can be the biggest rockstar in the world, a 27-year old mastermind in your chosen profession, and a single working mom, all while maintaining your health, fitness, and sanity.
Kudos!

Britney Spears is both a danger to herself and her two sons. It's a sad thing when you see a mother care so little about her own children. Public out bursts, late night parties, and substance abuse, all are signs of an inadequate parent. Mrs. Spears has a history of drug and alcohol abuse, and I believe that IS a danger to her children, not to mention is a horrible thing for her children to be witnessing.
Britney Spears used to be famous for being a pop star, NOW she is famous for being a pop tart. She has no self respect and should have the visitation rights taken away from her. For goodness sake, she was photographed driving with her son on her lap, not wearing a seat belt and driving without a license. What if she had gotten into an accident, it could have left her child injured or even killed. Not to mention that incident when she almost dropped her poor baby son onto the side walk because she wasn't holding him properly. She doesn't care about her children. Britney Spears is too selfish to be a good mother. She would often tell her nanny to make that baby stop it's crying. I'm sorry, but you're the mother, I know if it were my kid crying I would be doing anything to make them feel better. Also she let her kids witness her taking drugs and drinking excessively. She didn't have her sons on a proper sleep schedule, often keeping them up until all hours of the night, leaving them tired and cranky in the afternoon. Then Britney would get frustrated when the babies wouldn't stop crying. Also she wouldn't give her sons proper nutrition. Often feeding them chips, and soda out of a baby bottle causing their teeth to rot before they could even come in all the way.
Oh and I know everyone has heard of the famous bathroom epidemic! Locking herself and her son in the bathroom during the middle of a nervous breakdown. The poor kid was probably left traumatized! I would never let my child see me in that condition.
Also with all the talk of her being bi-polar, how do you know that she wouldn't hit her children if she was mad enough? I fear for the well being of the boys when they are under the supervision of their mother.
I do believe that Britney may one day commit suicide, it's a sad thing I know, but she can't handle herself anymore. She has completely lost it.
She has no sense of what it means to be a mother. She is too busy with drugs, sex, and alcohol to honestly care about the well being of her sons.
